Welcome back to MFT’s 10-1,000 betting challenge, where we aim for a 100x return on the original investment via a small stake betting strategy, prioritising low risk and low odds en route to a long-term target.
While this column is dedicated to high-probability tips, there is no guarantee of profit. If playing along, you should consider your own budget and confidence in the tip provided, and make your own decision whether to follow, cash out or continue at every stage. 18+, please gamble responsibly.
We will use a unit system for our stakes, allowing readers to set their own unit value that suits their own budget. For the sake of simplicity, for us, 1 unit = £1.
We will continue to transparently track our progress as far as we go on the path to 1,000, but will refresh our main tracking stake back to the starting point every time we surpass 100 units – a 10x ROI.
For the sake of consistency, all tips are placed using odds from bet365. It worth pointing out that with Bet365 we can paid out if our selection goes into a lead by two or more goals.
Bet 4 was another easy winner with Bohemian FC and Waterford both scoring in the 1st half.
Bet 5 – Watford vs Charlton – Saturday 17th October at 12:30
Watford welcome Charlton Athletic to Vicarage Road on Saturday, 17 October, with kick-off scheduled for 12:30. Both sides have struggled defensively in their respective home and away fixtures, making Over 1.5 match goals an attractive selection.
Watford have seen at least two goals in all five of their Championship home matches this season, with four producing three or more. Their fixtures at Vicarage Road have averaged 3.00 goals, with the Hornets scoring six and conceding nine.
Their latest home fixture ended in a 4-0 defeat against Burnley, extending a run of three consecutive home matches featuring at least three goals. The underlying statistics highlight Watford's defensive problems, with the hosts allowing 1.70 xGA per game while generating just 0.94 xG themselves.
Charlton arrive with an identical record for Over 1.5 goals, having seen the market land in all five of their Championship away fixtures. Four of those matches have also produced at least three goals, with their games on the road averaging 3.40 goals.
The visitors have scored six times away from home but conceded 11, an average of 2.20 goals against per match. Their defensive record is supported by an away xGA of 1.85, while their attacking output of 1.00 xG suggests they have also struggled to create chances consistently.
Across the two teams' relevant home and away records, all 10 matches have produced at least two goals, with a combined average of 3.20 goals per fixture.
Neither defence has offered much resistance this season, and the combination of high goals-against averages and concerning xGA figures provides a strong statistical case for goals.
