Spurs will look to finally claim their first Premier League victory of the season as they welcome newly-promoted Coventry City to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday Night Football.
Tottenham’s wait for a first Premier League win of the season was extended to six matches last weekend, but it must’ve felt like a small victory as they salvaged a late point at Old Trafford.
Despite approaching the final 15-20 minutes both a goal and a man down, Dominic Solanke scored a stoppage-time header to avoid a fourth Premier League defeat of the season.
However, Roberto De Zerbi’s men head into the weekend still inside the relegation zone, a point adrift of safety.
The Sky Blues endured a tough start to their first campaign back in the Premier League for 25 years, as they lost each of their opening four contests this season, shipping 10 goals and failing to score one themselves.
However, Frank Lampard’s visitors won 0-1 away at Nottingham Forest before the prolonged international break, and followed it up with a 4-1 home win over Newcastle United on Monday Night Football – on an evening I landed a 10/11 winner.
That result has lifted Coventry up into 14th position in the Premier League table, three points better off than their hosts.
How the bookies view it: Spurs favourites
Despite still being winless in the Premier League this season, Spurs are odds-on favourites here, with bet365 pricing a home success at just 9/20.
Coventry are 6/1 outsiders to secure a third Premier League win on the bounce, whilst the draw is 7/2.
Head to head: Seven unbeaten for Spurs
Following Coventry’s relegation from the Premier League in 2001, these two clubs have since met on just four occasions in the cup, with Spurs winning on each occasion.
Coventry’s last win in this fixture came back in December 1997, when they cruised to a 4-0 victory at Highfield Road.
Players to watch: Solanke to strike again?
Spurs really should’ve been at least two or three goals ahead at Old Trafford in the first half last weekend, with Dominic Solanke in particular guilty of fluffing his lines in front of goal.
However, the ex-Bournemouth man did finally get on the scoresheet with a stoppage-time header, and he is priced at 6/5 at bet365 to score in consecutive games.

Predicted line-ups:
Tottenham Hotspur: Kinsky, Gray, Van Hecke, Van de Ven, Udogie, Tonali, Bergvall, Savio, Maddison, Marmoush, Solanke
Coventry City: Rushworth, van Ewijk, Thomas, Pinnock, Dasilva, Yirenkyi, Grimes, Thomas-Asante, Rudoni, Mason-Clark, Cherif
Anything else catch the eye?
Tottenham played well at Old Trafford and you feel as if that first win of the campaign is coming, but they are far too short to back here.
Even more so given the Sky Blues come into this clash of the back of successive wins, so I’m happy to swerve the WDW markets and oppose goals.
Spurs’ opening six Premier League outings have averaged just 2.00 goals per game, with Under 2.5 Goals paying out in four of their past five, and a repeat pays an appealing 11/8.
