Rizzel and I have previewed four selections from the meetings at Thirsk and Epsom for Wednesday's Lucky 15 tips.
Cairnzy's Tips:
Jehangeer 7/2 – Thirsk 4.55
Jehangeer was busy enough as a two-year-old, winning once and placing once in four outings. His return to action at Newmarket was encouraging, finishing third in a decent looking handicap. That race looked more competitive than this and if able to build on that run, he should go close.
King's Crown 5/1 – Thirsk 4.20
Trainer Michael Dods has his string in good nick this season and King's Crown comes here with a good chance under jockey Connor Beasley. His finishing position last time out at Chester doesn't tell the whole story, finishing only 1.5L of the winner. For the grade, that race looked better than this and if able to build on that performance he should be bang there.
Rizzel's Tips:
Foreseeable Future 4/1 – Thirsk 5.25
For my first addition to the Lucky 15 bet for today, I’ve gone for Foreseeable Future in this bottom-of-the-barrel class of race at Thirsk. The rain is expected to fall at Thirsk and that should put soft in the going in some capacity and that isn’t going to affect my fancy negatively. He has been in decent form, especially from last time out when he looked in need of returning to 6f, so the extra furlong he races over today should see him going very close off a dangerous handicap mark.
Wahraan 7/2 – Epsom 8.00
It’s strange to see Wahraan out again under a 5lb penalty as he is only going to be going up 3lb in the handicap, so it’s evident that Jamie Osbourne is very keen on running him whilst he is in great form. He has been problematic with his starts from the gates, often blowing many lengths at the start, which is far from ideal in the flat racing world, but last time out he got it right and connections reaped the rewards. He has always been a useful horse, and a mark of 85 in this race, even off a heavy weight is definitely within reach. The ground is going to deteriorate slightly with some rain expected to land at Epsom, and I thought at the odds, Wahraan was a cracking bet for today’s Lucky 15.
WHAT IS A LUCKY 15 BET?
A Lucky 15 bet consists of 15 unique bets, covering every possible combination that comes from backing four selections. The 15 bets are broken down like this:
– 1 fourfold accumulator
– 4 trebles, with each treble omitting one of your selections
– 6 doubles, again covering every possible combination
– 4 singles
The attraction of a Lucky 15 is that it offers many more ways to win than a standard accumulator. A Lucky 15 uses both your acca and your singles as well as producing trebles and doubles that reward you for correctly calling 2/4 or 3/4 of your selections. To cover the 15 separate bets, a Lucky 15 uses your stake 15 times. If you were to place £1 on a Lucky 15, you would be staking £15 in total across the various bets.
Well done on Jehangeer, hoping for the rest
