Cairnzy ended up with just one selection yesterday who was an unfortunate faller in the Tingle Creek.
Sadly, the two main protagonists are both out of action tonight,so I've been asked to step in and cover in their absence. I was asked on short notice, so as a result, I haven't had much time to study Sunday's cards as much as I would have liked to.

Traprain Law 3/1 – 14.40 Kelso
The Class 2 Richard Landale Memorial Chase looks like a trappy betting prospect with five in with a realistic chance according to the market. Nigel Twiston-Davies sends his in-form gelding Matata up to Kelso having won last time at Cheltenham. Olly Murphy's Gunsight Ridge reopposes looking for retribution, the aging top-weight Tommy's Oscar looks to assert his class while Lucinda Russell's French import Trapain Law will be hoping to kick on his from pipe opener last month, we'll be hoping he is up to standard given he the one I've landed on.
Matata is just about the market leader, a horse I saw run last time, he was given plenty of rope and before long had his three rivals seemingly toiling, compensation for his neck 2nd just three weeks prior looked all but assured until Sean Bowen finally was able to make late inroads from off the pace aboard Gunsight Ridge. In fairness Sam Twiston-Davies was the least animated but Gunsight Ridge was beginning to motor and the long Cheltenham run in was sure to be in his favour. Unfortunately for us, we never got to see what would have been a pulsating finish as Gunsight Ridge landed on his nose jumping the last. Off of the same weight disparity, if all is well just 21 days later, he is sure to give it a good go again if coping better in the early exchanges.
Trapain Law is a horse who has a pleasing enough looking profile but this may be his toughest test to date. Purchased in France, he spent his first season over Hurdles, winning three of his seven starts, the majority being on much worse ground than what is forecast tomorrow but he does seem versatile enough, the only thing heavy is the support he has received, with his price more than halving, I almost looked elsewhere given you typically see such moves fail to even feature but a return to Kelso is likely to suit and the price is still just about backable.
He won on his second start Chasing over today's C&D a few days after Christmas last year, a disappointing run at this level followed at Doncaster (Gd-Gd/Sft) before going in again at Ayr in February, both wins being on heavy. Each win was a wide margin success, he is 12lbs above his best today rated 140, he ended the season soundly beaten by Tommy's Oscar when rated 138 which gives him a chance today albeit a pound worse off today, a horse who we hope is a declining force.
Lucinda sent him out for the first time this season just over a month ago when contesting a slightly longer trip at Carlisle. Given the drop back in trip is likely to suit, the taxing finish at Carlisle wouldn't have been wanted or needed, despite this, the horse gave quite a bold showing, the ground could have been boggier for him today but he should be able to kick on from that a feature today with more work in his legs. Patrick Wadge has recently lost his claim but is a talented jockey, operating at 16% over the previous year compared to Derek Fox's 10.3%.
