All four of the selections managed to place for us yesterday, we've gone close a couple of times this month already so to get a full house was nice enough.

It could have been better as I gave nods to two winners but we'll hope to be on the right side of these fine margins next time. As usual, I haven't been able to really dig into Saturday but I've only ever put one lazy selection up in nearly 200 tips, so hopefully they give us a run for our money, as usual, I do try to order them in preference for anyone oblivious to that. Let me know your fancies in the comments.

Attacanter's Tips

Golden Mind 11/1 five places – 15.35 Ascot

This is a nice looking race and one I'd have liked to thoroughly investigate but the time I invest in this article has to have limits. Streets of Gold was my initial pick, the trainer won the Shaladar race yesterday, she opts for a 7lb apprentice who looks to be very handy, putting the horse on 93.

He hasn't been rated that low since his opening mark of 92, in which he won off. He was 3rd here in a Group 3 at the Royal meeting before 6th of 13 again here last time now 8lbs lower. My selection is far less exposed than many of these and has quite a nice-looking profile from his first 6 races.

It'd have been nice to see Oisin J Orr not be elsewhere for the trainer but Jack (and Billy) do enough, it's only been two weeks since he had a winner for the trainer. Richard Fahey seems quite confident the horse can outrun his price. Of the form, the horse remains on the same mark as last time when a neck 2nd at Doncaster, that actually looks a really nice race, the 4th has come out and won since whilst the rest have pleasing paper form. He was tried here at the Royal Meeting as a 2yo when 3rd and is entered here in a few weeks over a mile so handles the course whilst conditions shouldn't be overly troublesome.

Noisy Jazz 13/2 four places – 13.30 Newmarket

This is certainly not my typical race, but with such a big-priced 2nd favourite, there is definitely value in trying to find one capable of placing with an extra place on offer.

I was going to punt La Pasionaria but will hopefully be rewarded for playing it slightly safer. This filly, trained by the likeable James Owen is only thriced raced. She won here on debut, I remember it now looking back, it was the day I noted Harry Bentley returned, and of course, he won on this 25/1 shot.

Stepped up in trip after that she only managed 6th of 9 in Listed company before her last outing at Windsor just a couple of weeks back when a pleasing enough 3rd of 14. Hollie was actually on the winner that day, just a half a length in front of today's selection. Hollie for me, isn't overly used by James Owen but I had a quick look, they've only shared 6 rides in 12 months, but their last runner was a winner two weeks back at Yarmouth, 2 of her other efforts placed and on a big day's racing, I am not going to be put off at a relatively weak jockey booking.

Casilli 8/1 four places – 14.45 Redcar

This combination landed one of our biggest-priced winners to date, the 16/1 Ayr Bronze Cup success for Diligent Resdev. As such I obviously checked over this horse in an open enough contest and have reluctantly decided to chance it.

Casilli has only been seen three times this year, she often is placed in races at stiff tracks, a regular to Beverley and most recently Pontefract, when 2nd of 6 before a 3rd of 13 rated 69. She's had a six-week break and we can hope she's ready enough to feature in this.

At this time last year, she was a C&D 4th rated 73, although a good 5 lengths behind, that was a grade higher than this and we're rated 12lbs lower today. Not all boxes are ticked but that alone does warrant inclusion given Lzaz was initially chosen, making handicap debut having shown little, I almost chanced him last time.

Billy No Mates 10/1 – 17.05 Redcar

Something is telling me this horse isn't for today, but on paper, he ticks enough boxes to be included, where he will be hopefully making up for his no-show last time.

He's 11lbs lower than his last win, three places isn't ideal but he can feature on his best and I'll reluctantly chance it. Seen just a week ago when trying to go back to back in a Haydock race over 1m6f, he could only manage 4th of 7 but was well beat, finishing around 10 lengths behind which I am going to write off as not a true showing given he won the same race by 3 lengths off 3lbs higher.

Now an 8yo, the horse will of course be slowing down, the race actually looks a lot tougher on paper too but hopes are pinned on the stable's claimer having an effect as he has a few times this season. He puts the horse on a mark of 64, a rating he has never been as low as, although just a month ago he was 5th of 11 off 67, that was no doubt just a prep for last time at Haydock.

WHAT IS A LUCKY 15 BET?

A Lucky 15 bet consists of 15 unique bets, covering every possible combination that comes from backing four selections. The 15 bets are broken down like this:

– 1 fourfold accumulator

– 4 trebles, with each treble omitting one of your selections

– 6 doubles, again covering every possible combination

– 4 singles

The attraction of a Lucky 15 is that it offers many more ways to win than a standard accumulator. A Lucky 15 uses both your acca and your singles as well as producing trebles and doubles that reward you for correctly calling 2/4 or 3/4 of your selections. To cover the 15 separate bets, a Lucky 15 uses your stake 15 times. If you were to place £1 on a Lucky 15, you would be staking £15 in total across the various bets.
