We have some nice racing to look forward to on Friday, with a mixture of both flat and jumps on offer.
I've two selections for tomorrow and they come from the meetings at Newmarket and Punchestown.
Lark In The Mornin 11/4 – Punchestown 19:05
Lark In The Mornin looks to have every chance in this contest given the form of his recent win in the Fred Winter Juvenile Handicap Hurdle received a big boost when stablemate Harsh landed a handicap earlier this week.
Joseph O’Brien’s four-year-old gets the 6lb weight-for-age allowance from the older horses in the race which could prove a vital factor coming into this contest.
He ran a career-best when winning recently at the Cheltenham festival. He travelled beautifully that day, picking his way through the field from a wide position before kicking on off the bend to win by two lengths. JJ Slevin who rode Lark In The Mornin at Cheltenham retains the ride and It's worth noting he's a jockey in good form at this years Punchestown festival with wins already on Fasterslow and Banbridge.
Castle Way 3/1 – Newmarket 16:10
I'm going against the Ryan Moore and Charlton combo that has served me well In recent weeks however I feel Castle Way could be a tough nut to crack in this contest.
The recent run at Meydan can be forgiven as connections reported my selection suffered from blood in the lungs. I think the fact William Buick has kept the faith with Castle Way ahead of King Of Conquest is a clue in itself. Castle Way comes back to Newmarket, a venue in which he has a strong record at ( has won his last three ).
Castle Way brings some nice form to the table having won the Bahrain Trophy when beating home Tower Of London. Tower Of London has has since won the Dubai Gold Cup when he finished ahead of Trawlerman, who had previously won the British Champions Long Distance Cup over one of my favourite horses Kyprios.
Current market leader Time Lock takes a drop in grade and has to be respected given the stables current form. Time Lock tends to be held up off the pace and I fully expect my selection to go forward in this contest. Castle Way can be a tough nut to catch If he's fully on song. I can see this race becoming quite tactical at stages throughout but I fully expect William Buick to go for home with the hope that Time Lock is unable to mow him down in the straight.

Morning gentlemen. Spotted a really interesting one for today. Some really nice stats thought they might be of help to someone. I’ll quickly say why I’m on this bet today.
Whogoesthere 2.50 Musselburgh 2/1
Tried to make all at Southwell a few weeks ago on his seasonal reappearance, only getting caught in the final furlong, only beaten 3/4 of a length. Main market rival today, Scoops Ahoy, finished a place behind that day, a further 2 and a half lengths back.
They meet again today but Whogoesthere has been dropped 1 lb while Scoops Ahoy remain on the same mark. Also what could be the key to this race is Zak Wheatley takes the ride claiming 5 lb instead of Harrison Shaw who rode last time.
Declan Carrol and Zak Wheatley have a 40% strike rate at the track when combining.
The stable have an impressive 24% strike rate here at Musselburgh in the last 5 seasons. The last couple of seasons they have been really successful. Last season they had a 40% strike rate with 4 from 10. It went up to 57% strike rate with their handicap runners with 4 from 7 ( todays race is a handicap).
With Musselburgh favouring front runners, drawn low in stall 2, dropped a pound by the handicapper, 5 lb claimer on board and the yards excellent record here, this gelding should be running really well here. The negative is the yard aren’t particularly in form, they did have a winner a few days ago though.
All the best everyone.
I’ll repost my other bet for today I mentioned yesterday morning, in case that’s of help to anyone looking for any potentially useful stats for today/ future.
Spanish Star 3.15 Goodwood tomorrow. Top 3 finish 11/8.
Yard clearly have had this race planned. He won this last year after making his seasonal reappearance at Newbury. This season they ran him in the exact same handicap at Newbury so as soon as I saw this I knew he’d be coming back for this. He’s a bit of a Goodwood specialist, he’s had 14 runs here. Form figures read….4 ,4, 2, 1,3, 1, 3, 7, 1, 1, 7, 3, 6. 4 wins from 13 here. He will likely have the exact same ground as last years race.
His run 2 weeks ago was very eye-catching. Finished 4th , beaten only a length.
This is definitely a horse that needs knowing and they have David Probert on who has ridden him on 5 of his runs at Goodwood, winning 2 of them.
Yard have a healthy 19 % strike rate at the track over the last 5 seasons. They don’t have too many runners here.
9-2 is available this morning still for the win. Reason I’ve played things a little safe is he does need producing as late as possible so can be a little bit of tricky ride.
Would be shocked if this isn’t shortened up today/ overnight.
🇦🇺 wee early play in Oz
One flagged up on my tracker there but hes offski from UK 🇬🇧
Auld Berkshire Breeze ex UK of decent standard runs in the 10.15 after good debut should come on.

Bet365 double with Langer Park Top 3 finish 4/5 in the 11.45 be option

Graded races up the ying yang tonight 👌 👀
Churchill Downs -Race 5…Idiomatic 4/5 Skybet boost *****
Was slight concern with forecast showers then remembered him winning in sloppy never mind slightly wet – he really should pi$$ this as the rest have absences to overcome like himself but are nowhere near him in the ratings. 🎲
Race 7…First Mission 13/8 ***
Race 11…‘The Kentucky Oaks’…Just F.Y.I. 5/1 ****+
Right hard to figure but I’ve tried and be back with a forecast/tricast BUT just think FYI might have needed the run last time looking at the workouts anf at 5/1 if you go Ew it’s your money for top FOUR Skybet
GL yoll I’ll be back you lucky ducks
Bit more than light rain Churchill so bets ⬆️ Rule 4 and the rest with NRs galore. 🤦
It’s Kentucky ffs thats an average 216 sunny days a year according to Siri 🤷
Hibee1 worst tipper ever ha
outsider of lot 4.10 what a con it walked it to
🇺🇸
It’s definitely “sloopy” but Idiomatic romped that as his mothers was a mudder, his father was a mudder and his whole bloodline a bunch of mudders!
Still 4 places in ‘The Oaks’ with Skybet and Just F Y I looking better as an Ew money back at 5/1…now 9/2 but still 👉
Deise Ava 5/2 Cheltenham
F—k that I’m not backing anymore horses till Cheltenham festival 2025 good luck to all
$hite bag! 😝 😉
Gets that way at times ThePlug 🤦
Look at dean’s 2 picks today.
Well researched long write ups, both finished 4th.
I get the feeling the more you write the less chance you have.
The 2 winners I’ve had today were instinct picks, nothing else, the one I looked into in depth after reading cairnzys write up stuffed in last place and won by a 50-1 shot.
I’ve given up with punchestown, it just has an after the lord’s mayor feel to it and the results in realty mean nothing as regards future championship racing goes.
Cheltenham de vaige 7-30 now non runner.
Transferred stake to
Couple de pinceaux 16-1 ew 4 places
jackmoon 7.40 ew well done all winners today
Gabriorot makes it 3 wins today
Good job as it’s Saturday wipeout day tomorrow 😂
Oh well 2 up at 4/5 and 13/8 then Just F Y I finished 2nd so the Ew got my exact money back.
🇺🇸
Oaklawn Park -Race 1.0..Tilted Lady 2/1 ***+
This horse one more chance but surely building as this his 3rd since a 4 month break only missing narrowly both runs and turned out quickly in sane grade with slight weight allowance of 4lb that could make the difference
