Mondays NAP of the Day

Well, we certainly ended the week on a high, with the well-backed Orchestra, tipped at 8/1, playing the sweet notes of success at Huntingdon. That rounded off a very profitable week, which contained not one, but two 8/1 winners. More weeks like that, please.

5/1

I’ll be starting the new week with a bet at Hereford, where I'm taking an approach that is the opposite of yesterday's. As opposed to waiting for the last race on the card, I’m going nice and early with a bet in the opener, which is a Class 5 handicap hurdle for conditional and amateur riders.

Jeudidee, who runs for Kim Bailey in the hands of N R Andrews, has done enough to tell me that an early price of 5/1, which is available at bet365 at the time of writing, is worth taking advantage of.

Faces a simpler task after showing promise last time out

Back over timber last time out, the still lightly raced five-year-old finished third (of 9) over two miles at Southwell. He didn’t exactly lay down a strong challenge that day, though he travelled into the race well, making some late headway, while this step back up in distance should suit.

After all, this is a horse who won over a near two-mile-three-furlong trip at Exeter around this time last year, and he did so going away,  seemingly scoring with plenty in hand. That success came from a mark of 111. Today he is rated 104, which looks a little lenient.

That Exeter success came on fast ground, which bodes well given the forecast conditions at Hereford. High on both of my speed lists, Bailey’s runner really does look like a serious player in a field such as this, which let’s face it, is modest at best.

Factor in that the trainer has a 50% strike rate when using this amateur rider and the positives really do start to stack up.

All in all, with the trip set to suit, the ground in favour, from a potentially lenient mark, in a slightly easier contest, Jeudidee looks a nice bet all the time odds of 5/1 are on offer.

Based on a £10 level-stakes example, the Nap of the Day (after 56 Naps) has a running P/L of +£100.00 (since switching to being published here (10/09/2024) rather than on the ‘Nap of the Day' page).
