Monday's Lucky 15 tips come from a variety of meetings throughout the UK and Ireland, with Rizzel and I selecting two horses each.
Cairnzy's Tips
Victors Dream 9/4 – Wolverhampton 8.40
The Botti yard arn't in that great of form of late, with only 2 winners from 22 runs, however, his runner Victors Dream looks to have found a good opportunity to get another win on the board for the team, with Jockey Marco Ghiani taking the ride.
My selection recently won at Brighton over the extended 5f five weeks ago which came off a low mark of 50 and he comes here only a 1lb higher for that success. The horse he beat on that occassion was Bluesbell Boy, who also contests in this race and the two of them head the market as joint 9/4 favourites at the time of writing. Bluesbell Boy has since won at Yarmouth in impressive fashion ( won by 3 and a quarter lengths ) however, he has a 7lb penalty to shoulder for that victory which I feel gives the upper edge to my selection who has already gotten the better of him when the pair bet at Brighton.
Hey Sunshine 9/4 – Roscommon 8.18
Being a full sister to a five-time winner over hurdles and one of my favourites this year ( Sunday Solider ), Hey Sunshine has to be respected for trainer Willie Mullins despite not having any racecourse experience. The market tends to be informative for these types of races, although anything from the Mullins stable is more times than most, going to be up there anyway, but you get the jist…
This field is filled with inexperienced jockeys and a positive to note for my selection, is that Jody Townend takes the ride, who has more experience on the saddle than most.
The main danger on paper looks to be Amanha, who has more racecourse experience than most of this field having run five times already in her career. With that said, she looks to be a bit frustrating, having placed four times in five runs without getting the head in front. Her most recent when sent of a 7/4 favourite and losing by over two lengths. She may have to play second fiddle once more, if Hey Sunshine lives up to what reads on paper.
Rizzel's Tips
Moodofthemoment 20/1 – Worcester 4.20
At ridiculous odds, Moodofthemoment could offer some serious value in this Class 5 (0-100) hurdle handicap. This race is crying out for a lightly raced horse to beat the exposed horses who are dropping down the handicap, and I think at 20/1 or similar odds, Moodofthemoment is a nice pick for Monday's Lucky 15. He is yet to win a race over rules after eight attempts, with five of those coming over hurdles. However, he is a horse who clearly has the ability to win races, as he is 4/7 in his PTP runs, with three of those coming in April – May, all over three miles. Since the PTP hattrick of wins, he has changed trainers to David Dennis and if David has managed to eke out the improvement over the smaller obstacles like he managed to do with Time Interval (same owners as Moodofthemoment), who he also obtained from David Pipe when he got that horse to win on stable debut in May, then the odds available could easily be too large.
Highwaygrey 7/1 – Ayr 3.30
Highwaygrey has been running quite inconsistent this year, with some fairly poor efforts mixed in with a good run at Carlisle. His most recent run wasn't a great effort, but that came in a Class 4 race, and the other races this season have either been in Class 4 or 5's, so today's drop in grade into a Class 6 should give him a very good chance against lesser rated horses. This is the first time Highwaygrey has been running in a race of this grade and off a mark of 66, which is 61 as Amie Waugh takes off 5lbs, I think he is good value, especially when he has previously won over today's C&D.
