On a busy day for sports bettors in general, if you’re looking for something to get stuck into on Saturday evening, then why not have a little play on a few greyhound bets?
Today’s greyhound tips
Tonight’s cards at Monmore and Hove interest me from a betting point of view, with three dogs in particular that stand out. See below for details on these three potential bets, odds allowing. Just to clarify and avoid any confusion, the odds in brackets are the minimum odds to take. If worse odds are available, it’s not a bet.
Tip 1: Droppys Babble (take odds of 7/4+)
Race #3 Monmore @ 19:06
First up tonight we have an A5 at Monmore, where Droopys Babble, who drops in grade, looks to have a sizable chance of success.
Arguably the only genuine early pace dog in here, the white jacket runner has a decent A5 record at Monmore, winning each of her last two at this level. She also has a recent second at A4 level, which makes her look like a serious player here.
Trap 2 has won three on the spin and will likely be popular in the betting, but she’s not the quickest away, plus has another hike in class here, which may be enough to end her winning run for now.
As far as I’m concerned, this is a big chance for Droopys Babble to get her head in front and if she’s available at 7/4 or bigger when the prices come out, I’ll be betting on her to do just that.
Tip 2: Droopys Opinion (take odds of 6/4+)
Race #6 Hove @ 19:33
Not long after the Monmore race above there’s a dog I like the look of at Hove. A decent sprinter, Droopys Opinion remains unexposed over four bends and he looks to be improving too.
Trap 2 is vacant, giving the runner in the red jacket plenty of room to work with and as far as I’m concerned, if he can avoid trouble at the first bend and, at the very least, repeat that recent effort, he should be bang there at the death.
I’d argue that this is slightly easier than his most recent assignment, so don’t be surprised if he gets the job done. At odds of 6/4 or bigger, I’ll be backing him to score for the first time over this trip.
Tip 3: Ivy Hill George (take odds of +7/4)
Race #11 Monmore @ 21:23
The penultimate race at Monmore looks like a chance for Ivy Hill George to get back to winning ways. This dog recently went close in an Open Race, while he’s rarely far away at this level.
With a few stepping up from S2 level, this is not the strongest race of its type and there’s enough evidence to suggest that the wide runner can dominate, even if that means getting on top late on.
At the end of the day, Ivy Hill George has been knocking on the door of late and after some very respectable efforts in tougher races, this is a big opportunity. I wouldn’t say anything silly like he should be an odds-on shot, but he’s done enough to merit decent favouritism here.
Put it this way, I make him a 13/8 favourite, so if 7/4 or bigger is available, there will be a chunk of value to be had.
Acca bet & other markets to explore
For those interested in playing multiple bets, (and the odds recommended above are available), then a three-fold acca would pay
If multiple bets are your sort of thing (and the odds recommended above are available), then an accumulator containing the three dogs will pay just over 17/1 (using odds of 7/4, 6/4 and 7/4).
Unlucky on the first one Bradley had 7′-4 5-2 for the winner 2-1 on the next one. Did you check your greyhound page for the 17th October put 3 winners up for Friday at Sunderland
Hi David. I didn’t see it, sorry about that. Nice work with those. I don’t get notifications for comments and don’t really go back to an article after the day. Will try to do with the greyhound pages in future.
