Two of the Premier League’s relegated teams meet at St Mary’s tonight with both vying to move to the top of the table.

Southampton were caught cold against Sunderland last time out to end their unbeaten start to the season, eventually going down 5-0 in a game that they had 68% possession of the ball.

Opponents Leicester’s unbeaten start was also ended in their last game when they were surprising beaten by Hull at home. The Foxes had 21 shots on goal but failed to score, unsurprising when only one of those was on target.

They’ve only scored seven in their first five games so that could be a problem for Enzo Maresca’s men.

It looks a really close game to call so might be better looking to other markets.

Southampton have been the most ill-disciplined side to date, average 4.20 yellow cards per game and a total of 11 in their two home matches so far, seven coming in an incident packed 4-4 draw with Norwich. They’re 4/5 to pick up three or more cards tonight.

Both sides like a corner too. Southampton lead the chart with an average of 8 per game, hitting 10-12-4-8 in their last four. Leicester are on 6.2.

Combining Over 1.5 Saints Cards with Over 5.5 Saints corners pays 11/10

Friday night’s live game on BBC Scotland is from Somerset Park where Ayr United welcome Partick Thistle.

Ayr have been struggling with injuries lately. They’ve lost their last four and slipped down to second bottom in the table.

Thistle on the other hand are still within touching distance of the top. They’re the Championship’s top scorers and goals have been raining in in their games this season. Nine of their 10 matches have seen BTTS and nine have also gone Over 2.5.

It’s 4/5 that we see three or more in Ayrshire tonight, whilst it’s even more on the Jags to net two or more.

With Brian Graham still banging them in at 35-years-old the latter looks a sound bet.

    NFL Thursday Night

    Eagles vs Vikings
We were very fortunate to win last week and should have lost against the Patriots. I do expect a better performance from us tonight but it’s going to be tough as we are definitely missing 3 starters but Fletcher Cox looks ok to play. We don’t really value the linebacker position and Nakobe Dean is out for tonight so it is going to leave a lot of space in the middle for the Vikings. I do expect Cousins will continue to target his tight end T.J. Hockenson just like he did last week with him catching 8 of 9 targets for 35 yards. The key for us will be trying to keep Jefferson quiet but that is no easy task. Hopefully we can get Goedert more involved this week but I expect most of our catches to be from the duo of Smith and Brown. I avoid betting on my own team but I do lean on us to cover the spread line which has now decreased from 7.5 down to 6. I do like some player props tonight which I will be playing.

I reckon my 49ers will win the NFC this season and go one better than the lose too your Eagles in the championship match last year. They were superb last week at the Steelers in the opener

    • MJT 8 months ago

Yes the 49ers are looking very strong mate and I do unfortunately think you will get the better of us this season. Despite winning we have been very poor in the opening couple of weeks but will hopefully improve as the season goes on. As long as it’s not the Cowboys I’ll be happy!

    • SmokeyJoe 8 months ago

Cowboys won at the Chiefs but for me in the AFC it’ll be Chiefs v Bills/ Bengals and barring a disaster with injuries in either camp it’ll be the Eagles v 49ers again in the NFC. Just hope we dont get the QB injuries we suffered last season

Off for a beer mate, best of luck tonight

Not looking good for Salford tonight. Fair few injuries, Matty Lund suspended, few are doubtful with injuries including Callum Hendry. Home form has been terrible for last few years. Notts County bang in form coming off a point away at MK which is a very good point. Drew away at Morcambe who have looked really strong at home so far. County played on Tuesday in the EFT but there was alot of rotation most of their key players played only 45 mins so fitness shouldn’t be a problem. Understandable why they are 5/4 to win. Not betting myself as have backed something tomorrow just thought the team news might be helpful to someone

Hi, you are just the man I was hoping to see on here, I was sure there was a Walsall fan on here.
Can you be ever so kind and look back on yesterday’s thread to see my bet I posted and let me know if you think i’m on the money? Would love to hear about Oisin McAEntee and if I was right he has moved from defence to midfield last game and if he will stay there? I was using soccerway and it showed his position to be in defence every game u til last week he was shown to be a midfielder, obviously you will know he scored and got an assist.14/1 to score anytime with skybet just seems insane. Would be ever so greatful for a reply if you see this message.

      Many thanks, Den.

    • saddler78 8 months ago

      Hello mate,
Definitely would not put you off backing McEntee but i would try and wait to see the lineup first. We have not played Danny Johnson our last couple of games, which we are all assuming and hoping is due to fitness rather than anything else, but if Johnson starts then that is likely to change, rather than playing with one striker and attacking wingers. We have looked a better team going forward without Johnson but he is our most dangerous player so would expect him back in the starting line up very soon. Difficult to say how the attack will look once he is back in the first 11. Swindon will be a tough game for us and also have the extra spice of Flynn getting the sack from our place last season. Expect us to grab a couple of goals given their defensive record, and we have also looked tighter at the back recently. I’m going 3-1 to us and if we do grab 3 goals then McEntee could definitely be grabbing one of them.
Not sure if any of that helps mate but good luck with your bet anyway.

Newcastle v Brentford 5.30 Kick off (SAT)
    Btts at 3/4 (NAP)
Sandro Tonali to be booked at 6/4
Eddie Howe will try and get his team back to winning ways after 3 straight defeats but I doubt it will come easy against Brentford. Newcastle will surely have one eye on Tuesday nights Champions League tie in Milan and Eddie Howe must be fuming with the late Kick off which gives them just over a day to prepare for that game. Newcastle can be forgiven for their recent losses as they have been up against the two big sides of the EPL in City and Liverpool but were rocked when the reds came from behind to win that game with only ten men and it makes you wonder how that result will effect them coming into this game. Newcastle have conceded in every game this season and that was unlike them last season where they had a great defensive record. Brentford have made an unbeaten start to the season albeit against lower opposition but they have scored in every game and they did record a convincing 3-0 win away to Fulham at the start of the season, given the reasons posted btts looks a solid shout here. I also fancy a few cards in this game with the new player Tonali going in the book.
    Best of luck

I was beginning to think he wasn’t going to win one! Lol and didn’t do the William hill one, learnt from previous lessons and waited for line ups! Also looking at his stats, he hadn’t had many recently either, although this would have been a perfect game to get one. Happy days! On to tomo and gotta say, maybe slightly biased glasses on but see a comfortable win for spurs, Sheffield utd concede so many chances and someone is going to punish them soon, I will be on goalscorer bets I think, as well as that total goals spread one 😆
