Best tennis tips and predictions today
In our first tennis tip this Friday, we’re backing Ugo Humbert to beat Jordan Thompson, while the other will feature Holger Rune beating Alex de Minaur, even though the Danish player has been hot and cold.
Humbert to defeat Thompson @ 2/5
This prediction comes down to a couple of factors which are rather simple to explain. Humbert is an excellent indoor player and has been for much of his career. He’s played superbly well this week in Paris.
He’s a French player who is playing at home which will always boost him considerably against any opponent. He’s also just beaten Carlos Alcaraz which, whatever you might think of the Spanish player and his form, is impressive.
We expect him to simply continue playing as well as he has been lately, and win this match. Thompson is solid but this might be a bit out of his reach, especially with how Humbert has been playing.
Rune to defeat De Minaur @ 11/10
This is an interesting one because Alex de Minaur ensures himself a position at the ATP Finals with a win here. Holger Rune is technically still in the running but he needs to win the event – and then likely title next week as well.
It’s not impossible because he’s done it in the past and we actually think that he will win this match. There is just something about this matchup that screams Rune when you really break it down.
He’s got the bigger weapons and while De Minaur might force him into playing rallies he doesn’t like to play, when it comes down to it we think Rune will take the match. De Minaur can make the ATP Finals even with a loss though it’s much less likely than if he wins.
After all, there’s a reason Rune is 11-1 at the Paris Masters, with one title and one final so far in his short career. The man loves it here, and he should keep the good times rolling on Friday with another big win.
