FRANCE v ARGENTINA
Saturday 30 June, 3pm – Live on BBC
THE general consensus seems to be this has been a really good World Cup thus far and I would definitely agree. I was initially nonplussed about the whole thing but the tournament has really got the juices flowing and this game could be one of the best yet as one of the world’s top teams has to go out.
I have been quite impressed with France so far who along with Croatia have been the best two sides I have seen. Argentina on the other hand have been awful apart from the odd flash of genius like Messi’s goal against Nigeria.
They look disorganised and their midfield has struggled to make an impact. I think a strong French side will dominate and edge through perhaps by a one-goal margin in normal time.
VAR has been the controversial element to the tournament. I am a big fan of the concept but some of the interpretation has been interesting to say the least. From a betting perspective I have been blindly backing penalty kick takers to score at anytime and/or a penalty to be scored by each team. It has proved profitable so far.
Aside from being the penalty taker Griezmann can also pop up with a goal at any time so he is my choice for first scorer.
