Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me delve into the Europa League, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.
⚽️ Bodo/Glimt vs Besiktas
🇪🇺 Europa League
⏰ Thursday 11 December, 20:00
Two clubs separated by a solitary point in the Europa League table meet at the Aspmyra Stadion on Thursday night as newly-crowned Norwegian champions Bodo/Glimt entertain Turkish side Besiktas in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Kjetil Knutsen’s hosts have slammed in 22 goals across their opening 11 matches in Europe this campaign, with 14 (64%) of them coming across their five home encounters.
The Yellow Horde have only failed to score away in Belgrade against perennial Serbian champions Crvena Zvezda and at Union Saint-Gilloise on the continent this term, striking on multiple occasions in seven (64%) of them – including in 4/5 (80%) on home soil – and will be confident of breaching a Besiktas backline that recorded a solitary shutout across their seven European fixtures this season, shipping 15 goals.
Interim boss Serdar Topraktepe has seen his Besiktas side score 36 goals across their opening 21 league and European fixtures this campaign, with 13 (36%) of them coming on their travels.
The Black Eagles have found the back of the net in all bar two of those clashes – notching on multiple occasions in 10 (48%) of them – and will look to trouble a Glimt defence that’s registered a solitary shutout from their past eight European outings, shipping multiple goals in four of the last six.
Bet of the Day
Bodo/Glimt’s opening 11 encounters in Europe this season have averaged 3.18 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in eight (73%) of them, whilst seven (64%) have produced goals at both ends, including 4/5 (80%) in the Europa League.
Those numbers rise even further when playing at home, with those five contests averaging a whopping four goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in all five (100%), whilst each of the past four have produced goals at both ends.
Besiktas’s fixtures in Europe have been full of goals this campaign, with their opening seven matches on the continent averaging exactly four goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in six (86%) of them, whilst five (71%) have produced goals at both ends.
These two sides faced off in the group stages of the Conference League last season – with Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals landing on each occasion – and I’m hoping for a similar outcome in the Arctic Circle on Thursday.
- Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals
- Pays 4/5 (Bet365)
