Following Thursday’s disappointment in Ireland, my Football Bet of the Day returns on Saturday night/Sunday morning and sees me head to the MLS, and there’s one fixture in particular that appeals to me for goals at both ends.

Western Conference leaders Real Salt Lake travel to the Saputo Stadium to take on Eastern Conference side CF Montréal in the early hours on Sunday morning in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Laurent Courtois’ hosts have scored 23 goals across their opening 16 MLS contests this term, with 11 (48%) of them coming across their six home matches.
The Impact have made the net bulge in 5/6 (83%) of their matches in front of their supporters – notching on multiple occasions in four (67%) of them – and will look to trouble an RSL defence that has kept a solitary shutout across their nine MLS encounters on their travels this season.
Pablo Mastroeni’s visitors are the second-highest scorers across both conferences in MLS, banging in 36 goals across their opening 17 matches, with 16 (44%) of them coming on their travels.
RSL have failed to strike in just one of their last 16 MLS encounters – notching on multiple occasions in seven of their previous nine – and will be confident of breaching a Montréal back line that’s registered just two clean sheets across their previous 15 MLS tussles, shipping multiple goals in six of their last seven.

CF Montréal’s opening 16 MLS contests this campaign are averaging an eye-catching 3.63 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals banking in 11 (69%) of them, including in 5/6 (83%) of them on home soil – and given both have obliged in seven of RSL’s previous eight road trips, with four (50%) of those also seeing BTTS & Over 2.5 land – I’m happy to have a punt on there being a minimum of three strikes in Canada, with both of these sides finding the target.
