Euro 2024 Bet of the day

After making it three successive winners over Easter Weekend, The Football Bet of the Day returns on Thursday and sees me focus on the match at Stamford Bridge and I’m expecting goals and cards.

⚽️ Chelsea vs Manchester United

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Premier League

⏰ Thursday 4th March, 20:15

Two faltering giants in the English Premier League meet at Stamford Bridge tomorrow evening as 12th-placed Chelsea play host to 6th-placed Manchester United in a fixture that appeals to me for both goals and cards.

Mauricio Pochettino’s hosts have scored 49 goals across their opening 28 Premier League fixtures this term, with 25 (51%) of them coming on home soil. After failing to score in half of their opening six league outings, The Blues have made the net bulge in 20 of their next 22 – scoring on multiple occasions in 14 (64%) of them – and will look to trouble a United defence that is without a clean sheet in each of their previous seven Premier League contests on the road, shipping multiple goals in four (57%) of them.

Erik ten Hag’s visitors have scored 40 goals across their opening 29 Premier League fixtures this term, with 22 (55%) of them coming across their previous 11 matches. The Red Devils have found the back of the net in each of their last 11 league outings – scoring on multiple occasions in seven (64%) of them – and will look to continue their recent improvement in front of goal against a Blues backline that has kept just two clean sheets across their previous 21 Premier League contests, shipping multiple goals in 14 (67%) of them.

Bet of the Day

Chelsea’s opening 28 Premier League fixtures this campaign are averaging 3.43 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score banking in 19 (68%) of them, including in 17 of their previous 21 – and given the same has landed in nine of Manchester United’s previous 11 Premier League encounters, including in each of their last six away from home – I’m happy to have a punt on both of these inconsistent giants to find the target.

To nudge the price up, I’m happy to throw in a minimum of four cards in the match, with both sides receiving at least one of them. This selection has landed in all bar one of Chelsea’s 28 Premier League fixtures this season, with it also profitable in 11/15 (73%) of Manchester United’s road trips in the Premier League.
