Following on from Tuesday’s winner in Kaunas, Friday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me delve into the French second tier, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

Two clubs separated only by two points in the French Ligue 2 table meet at the Stade de Roudourou on Friday evening as seventh-placed Guingamp plays host to 11th-placed Pau in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Sylvain Ripoll’s hosts are the second-highest scorers in Ligue 2, slamming in 16 goals across their opening eight matches, with 12 (75%) of them coming in front of their supporters.
Les Rouge et Noir have only failed to score away at leaders Paris FC – notching on multiple occasions in 5/8 (63%) of their contests, including in all four (100%) on home soil – and will look to continue their strong goal-scoring record at home against a Pau backline that is yet to register a clean sheet on their travels this term, shipping nine goals across their opening four road trips.
Nicolas Usaï’s visitors have scored 11 goals across their opening seven matches in the French second tier, with six (55%) of them coming on their travels.
Les Maynats have found the back of the net in each of their opening seven league contests – striking on multiple occasions in three (43%) of them – and will look to maintain their record of finding the back of the net in every match this season against a Guingamp defence that is without a clean sheet in each of their previous six Ligue 2 outings, shipping an eye-catching 14 goals.

Guingamp’s opening eight contests in the French second tier this term have averaged a league-high 3.75 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in six (75%) of them.
Those numbers rise even further on home soil, with their opening four league contests at home averaging a staggering 4.75 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in all four (100%) – and given the same has landed in 3/4 (75%) of Pau’s road trips – there’s a good chance we’ll see goals here.
This fixture has produced goals in recent seasons, with each of the past five meetings producing at least three goals, including both contests last campaign (4-0 & 1-2).
