After falling a goal short at Dundee on Saturday, Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the Dutch Eredivisie and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.
⚽️ Go Ahead Eagles vs FC Utrecht
🇳🇱 Eredivisie
⏰ Sunday 6 April, 13:30
Utrecht will look to continue their quest for Champions League qualification on Sunday as they travel to De Adelaarshorst to take on fellow European hopefuls, the Go Ahead Eagles, in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Paul Simonis’s hosts have slammed in 49 goals across their opening 27 Eredivisie fixtures this season, with 29 (59%) of them coming on their travels.
The Eagles have made the net bulge in 21 of their previous 23 Eredivisie encounters – notching on multiple occasions in 16 (70%) of those matches – and will be confident of getting on the scoresheet once again against a Utrecht defence that has recorded a solitary shutout on their travels this season, shipping multiple goals in each of their past three.
Ron Jans’s visitors have scored 48 goals across their opening 27 Eredivisie fixtures this campaign, with an impressive 28 (58%) of them coming on their travels.
The Cathedral citizens have found the back of the net in each of their opening 13 Eredivisie contests on their travels – notching 2+ goals in eight of their last nine and 10 of their past 12 – and will be confident of breaching an Eagles backline that is yet to record a clean sheet in their meetings with teams positioned in eighth and above this season, shipping multiple goals in 9/11 (82%) of them.
Bet of the Day
The Eagles’s opening 27 Eredivisie contests this campaign have averaged an impressive 3.41 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in 18 (67%) of them – including in 16 of their last 20 – whilst 15 of their previous 23 have featured goals at both ends.
Utrecht’s opening 13 Eredivisie fixtures on their travels this campaign have averaged an eye-catching 3.46 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score paying out in a league-high 12 (92%) of them, whilst eight of their last nine and 10 of their previous 12 have seen a minimum of three goals.
What’s more, the previous six Eredivisie meetings between these two sides have averaged 3.50 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals banking in five (83%) of them – including a thrilling 3-3 draw in the reverse fixture back in December – and I’m hoping the goals flow once again between these two sides in Deventer on Sunday.
- Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals
- Pays 19/20 (William Hill)
