Following on from back-to-back winners in the Copa America and South Korea the last couple of days, Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me take a trip to the Brazilian top flight, and I’ve highlighted one fixture in particular that appeals to me for goals.

Fourth-placed São Paulo will look to make it five wins on the bounce as they travel to the Arena MRV to take on mid-table Atlético Mineiro in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Ex-Barcelona defender Gabriel Milito has seen his side score 20 goals across their opening 14 matches in the Brazilian Serie A this term, with nine (45%) of those coming in front of their supporters.
The Galo have only failed to score at home to Palmeiras (third) and away at Botafogo (second) across their previous 13 league outings – notching on multiple occasions in seven (54%) of them – and will look to trouble a São Paulo backline that has recorded only two clean sheets across their seven road trips this term, shipping 10 goals.
São Paulo are the third-highest scorers in the Brazilian top flight, slamming in 24 goals across their opening 15 matches, with 12 (50%) of them coming on their travels.
Luis Zubeldía’s visitors have found the back of the net in 12 (80%) of their league contests – notching two or more strikes in nine (60%) of them, including in each of their last four – and will be confident of breaching an Atlético Mineiro defence that is without a clean sheet in each of their previous 10 league matches, shipping multiple goals in five (50%) of those.

São Paulo’s opening 15 encounters in the Brazilian top flight are averaging 2.67 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in 10 (67%) of them.
What’s more, those averages increase when playing away from home for the Tricolor Paulista, with their opening seven road trips averaging 3.14 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in six (86%) of those contests – and given the same has landed in nine of Atlético Mineiro’s previous 12 league outings – I’m happy to have a punt on there being a minimum of three strikes in Belo Horizonte on Thursday night/Friday morning.
