CROATIA v DENMARK
Live on ITV. Sunday July 1, kick-off 7pm
THE Croats cut a swathe through D and arrive in the last 16 with a perfect record.
Impressive wins over Nigeria and Argetina proved they mean business and even when the fringe men were given their chance in the last outing they showed the squad's strength in depth with a 2-1 win over Iceland.
Luka Modric has been a standout in midfield so far and with other top-class talents such as Ivan Rakitic, Mario Manduzic and Ivan Perisic in the side the Balkans are living up to their billing as a decent outside bet to go all the way.
They take on a Denmark side who've bored their through to the knockout phase. The Danes were lucky to beat Peru in their opener, uninspiring in the stalemate with Australia then had a carve-up with France to secure the point they both needed.
Boss Age Hareide has stated his team will adopt a more attacking approach in this match but I remain to be convinced. They lack quality up front although playmaker Christian Eriksen is their one outstanding talent and if given time on the ball he can give the Croats problems.
But Zlatko Dalic's side should be far too streetwise to let Eriksen roam free and Croatia's better calibre of player should see them through. Eintracht Frankfurt winger Ante Rebic has been a revelation for the Croats and can add to his one goal so far.
