THE Aussies' dream of reaching the knockout phase is still alive but they need to beat Peru and hope for a favour from France.
A French win over Denmark will open the door for the Socceroos, who have to better the Danes' goal difference, and they've made a decent fist of things in Group C so far.
Bert van Marwijk's side were narrowly beaten by France before being much the better side in the second half against the Danes and unlucky not to come away with more than a 1-1 draw.
They'll look for a similar standard of performance against an already eliminated Peru side who'll aim to at least score a goal before they head home.
The Peruvians were also decent against the Danes, missing a penalty in the 1-0 defeat, and their finishing has let them down at these finals – they've had 27 shots and failed to net any of them.
The Aussies need to go for it today so will leave spaces at the back at the fact Peru are playing without pressure should help them break their duck.
Both Socceroo goals so far have come from Mile Jedinak penalties and it's worth chancing the midfielder – who's also a danger in the air at set-pieces – to make it three in a row.
