While many punters naturally gravitate towards backing a winner, betting on a draw can be a smart and rewarding alternative.
This is because bookmakers typically assign bigger odds to stalemates, which occur less often than victories for either team.
With that in mind, let’s examine this weekend’s fixtures and identify the games where draw outcomes present the best value.
Livingston vs Kilmarnock (Sunday, 14:00)
Livingston and Kilmarnock meet in what is an end-of-season dead rubber in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday afternoon. The hosts have been propping up the table for much of the campaign and were relegated a couple of weeks ago, while Kilmarnock secured their top-flight status with a 3-1 win over Dundee on Tuesday night.
Despite their struggles this season, Livingston have shown plenty of fight of late, which is reflected in the fact that seven of their last 11 Scottish Premiership matches have finished level, including Tuesday night’s 0-0 draw away to Dundee United.
Further encouragement for siding with another stalemate on Sunday comes from the fact that the two sides played out a 1-1 draw at this venue at the turn of the year.
Leeds vs Brighton (Sunday, 15:00)
Leeds will head into their final Premier League home game of the season with Brighton off the back of a 1-1 draw with Tottenham on Monday night. Daniel Farke’s side have been no strangers to stalemates in recent weeks, and another draw could be in the offing when they square off against the Seagulls this weekend.
The Whites’ 1-1 draw with Spurs was the 14th time one of their top-flight fixtures has ended level this season, a tally surpassed only by Bournemouth’s 16. Notably, 12 of those 14 draws have come across Leeds' last 22 league matches.
Now set to go up against a Brighton side who were involved in a 2-2 draw away at Tottenham last month, it could be honours even again at Elland Road.
Lorient vs Le Havre (Sunday, 20:00)
There could be fine margins when Lorient lock horns with Le Havre in Ligue 1 on Sunday night. Both sides have been among the draw specialists in the French top-flight this season, with the hosts drawing 12 of their league matches and the visitors 14.
Notably, six of Le Havre’s last eight Ligue 1 outings have seen the points shared, including each of their previous three on the road. The reverse fixture finished one apiece, and there is every chance of a repeat of that scoreline at the Stade du Moustoir on Sunday night.
