Rangers round off another trophy-less season at the Falkirk Stadium at lunchtime on Saturday as they take on Falkirk.
Rangers’ disastrous run of form post-split continued on Wednesday night as they fell to a 1-2 defeat at home to Hibs, on an evening I landed a 21/20 winner.
Danny Rohl’s side have now lost each of their previous four Premiership matches – their worst run of league defeats since 1983 – putting an end to their title hopes.
Falkirk suffered defeat to the other half of Edinburgh on Wednesday night, as they were comfortably beaten 3-0 away at title-chasing Hearts.
John McGlynn‘s men have now lost four of their last five Premiership matches – as well as three of their four in front of their supporters – meaning they will finish in an impressive sixth position in their first season back in the Scottish top flight for 15 years.
How the bookies view it: Rangers favourites
Despite losing each of their previous four Premiership fixtures, Rangers have been installed as favourites to claim all three points, with bet365 pricing an away success at 17/20.
Falkirk are 13/5 to put a halt to their two-game losing streak, whilst the draw is 14/5.
Head to head: Three unbeaten for Gers this season
Rangers are unbeaten across their previous three meetings with Falkirk this season (W1-D2-L0), with their solitary victory coming at this venue just last month, coming from two goals down to win 3-6.
Falkirk’s last victory over the Teddy Bears came in the Championship 10 years ago, whilst their last top-flight victory over the Glasgow giants came way back in 2006.
Players to watch: Broggio to bag again?
Ben Broggio has made a decent impression during his loan stint from Aston Villa, scoring five goals and providing two assists across his 13 appearances in the Scottish top flight.
One of those was the opener when these two sides last met at this venue just last month, and he is an appealing 9/4 at bet365 to Score or Assist.
Predicted line-ups:
Falkirk will be missing the injured Scott Bain, Louis Marsh and Ethan Williams, whilst Leon McCann and Barney Stewart are doubts.
Nico Raskin and Ryan Naderi appears to be the only two doubts for Rangers, whilst departing captain James Tavernier looks to have played his last game for the club.
Falkirk: Hogarth, Allan, Donaldson, Henderson, Hart, Spencer, Tait, Broggio, Yeats, Miller, Wilson
Rangers: Butland, Sterling, Djiga, Fernandez, Rommens, Barron, Diomande, Aasgaard, Gassama, Moore, Chermiti
Anything else catch the eye?
This game is effectively a dead rubber for both, but that doesn't mean we shouldn’t expect another entertaining encounter between these two sides on Saturday.
Rangers’ matches in the Scottish Premiership have gone goal-crazy over the past couple of months, with their previous 13 clashes averaging a whopping 4.46 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in 11 (85%) of them, whilst 12 (92%) have produced goals at both ends.
Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals has also paid out in five of their previous four Bairns’ last six Premiership contests on home soil – including that nine-goal thriller with Rangers last month – and a repeat pays an appealing 1/1 at Betfred.
