It took penalties to decide the outcome of the Champions League tie at the Emirates last night and we could be in for an equally tense and late finish in either of this evening’s ties.
Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid meet again after Marko Arnautović’s goal separated the sides in Italy a fortnight ago and it’s set to be another close encounter.
Atletico boast the best home record in La Liga, unbeaten in 14 (W13 D1) at the Metropolitan, their only blemish a 3-3 draw with Getafe. They were also unbeaten on home soil in the Group E. In fact it was Inter’s rivals AC Milan who were the last European team win there in the Champions League in the 2021 group stages.
That’s a measure of the task facing I Nerazzurri tonight. The good news is they don’t need to win to progress as a draw would suffice.
Inter are looking champions elect in Serie A with a 16 point lead over AC Milan having only lost once in the league all season.
Something has to give tonight but it might take them going the distance. It’s a 7/1 shot that the tie is decided on penalties and 14/1 if you want to choose which club will succeed from the spot.
If the tie is to go beyond 90 minutes it would require Atletico to win by a single goal margin which is 10/3 at Bet365.
Borussia Dortmund came through the toughest of groups, finishing ahead of PSG, AC Milan and Newcastle United so will believe they have what it takes to book a place in the quarter-finals for the first time since 2021.
Standing in their way are PSV Eindhoven who are flying in the Dutch Eredivisie, unbeaten after 25 matches (W22 D3).
Luke De Jong’s penalty kept PSV in the hunt for a last-eight place, equalising Donyell Malen’s opener, to leave the tie delicately poised at 1-1.
Home advantage means Dortmund are favourites to qualify at 8/13, while PSV are 6/5 shots.
Goals look an obvious play for this one especially with two forward-thinking teams but it could pay to swim against the tide in this one.
There’s so much at stake that it might stifle either sides attacking ambitions. Under 2.5 goals is 6/4. It’s not a popular bet to watch but if things are level going in to the latter stages both sides might settle for another 30 minutes rather than push for another goal.

I can’t see a massive amount of goals in Europe so am trying a slightly risky single.
On paper dortmund appear to be a stronger side than psv and were unlucky to come away with only a draw in the first leg. While psv are having a great season domestically I can’t see them beating a decent dortmund side. I think a low scoring win for dortmund

I think these games will be extremely tight tonight, Inter hold a 0-1 lead going into this fixture and you’d think they would adopt a defensive approach to this game, very rare will you see an Italian team open up away from home in such a big game. Atletico will use every trick in the book but they are facing last years finalists who have experience and for me will go on to lift the trophy if the draw is kind enough. No one gave Porto a chance last night and look at that game there was nothing between them. As a saver and in case Atletico some how manage to win 1-0 then I’m on both games to be decided on pens, bare in mind though that’s a rarity at this stage so small stake on the double at 63/1.
