Wait Geordie got into a nice position from Stall 3 at Chester, but the winner came back to haunt me for the second time this season.
I decided to take on the winner when he was running at Musselburgh. I backed a horse from the Brocklesby, and he made mincemeat of that field, doing it quite easily. He got to the front and put in a smart performance as far as this season has gone, and won cosily in the end. I don't think he's going to be a Group horse, but I could see him landing Listed honours or being placed at that level.
Flash Man had every chance to win at Fontwell, but a couple of ropey jumps and not enough in the tank to stay on as strong as the winner was the reason why he didn't get the win.
Moonfall 17/2 (0.5pt EW, 4pl) – Chester 3.40
When you see the main jockey of a stable riding another horse in the same race, it's normally a big indicator not to back the horse without him/her on. That's all well and good until Ryan Moore is riding the other horse.
I find it quite hard to believe that Billy Loughnane has opted for McMurray over Moonfall. The former was on a hat-trick at the end of the last season, but the wins were done in weak races, and the final win was in a two-horse race. Both of the horses I've mentioned haven't been seen in over 200 days, Moonfall for 299, so unless McMurray has progressed plenty over the winter, I found it hard not to pick Moonfall.
Obviously, there are plenty of other horses in this race, but I couldn't get stuck into any other horses based on their two-year-old form. Moonfall has some very solid form from last year, but I think it's overshadowed by a comfortable defeat in a Group 2 in July.
His runner-up and third-placed finishes on his first two starts have been franked, as has the win over New Monarch. I think the main issue is whether he'll stay the trip, as he is by Starman, but he is a half-brother to Soprano, who was two times placed over a mile in Group 1 races.
Stall 12 is another issue, but Ryan Moore is the best jockey in the world and is the best around Chester. If there was a man for the job from this wide stall to find the gaps, it's Ryan.
Grazeon Sunshine 9/4 (2pt) – Redcar 6.20
If Grazezon Sunshine can handle today's ground at Redcar, then surely he has been found a lovely opportunity to break his maiden tag.
We know this horse has the ability. He has already popped up in a bumper race at Sedgefield during the recent jumps season and ran well to finish second to a smart-looking horse from the David Pipe stable. Both of those runs came on a slower surface, but he hasn't been given a high handicap mark for his flat handicap debut.
Also, he is by Mondaliste. When Mondaliste was running in his prime, his best form came on a fast surface, so if he has some of his father's attributes, he should be fine.
