One big push is all that’s needed for Wales to take their place at the top table of European international football once again, a win over Poland tonight please, no matter how they do it.
The Welsh are aiming to make it to a third successive European Championships and the Cardiff City Stadium will be rocking as their side attempt to turn a difficult campaign in to a successful one.
The Dragons looked down and out after defeats against Armenia and Turkey but fought their way back in to contention before a flat finish left them third in the group. Fortunately they had the back-up of potential qualification via the Nations League route.
So here were are, 90 minutes away from another momentous night in the capital and they’re bookies favourites to qualify at 3/4. A Robert Lewandowski-inspired Poland are even money to spoil the party and take their place in Germany where Netherlands, Austria and France await in Group D.
Poland had a similar campaign to Wales in qualification Group E. A costly defeat in Moldova left them chasing things but they failed to win their final two matches to also finish third.
A 5-1 win for the Poles over Estonia in Thursday’s semi-final should be warning enough for Wales but Poland haven’t traveled well recently, winning just six of their last 20 on the road – two of the wins coming against some of Europe’s cannon fodder; San Marino and Andorra. Other wins have come in Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Faroes Islands.
Ominously for Wales though is the fact that Poland won their two most recent meetings when the sides were drawn together in the Nations League, including a 1-0 victory at tonight’s venue 18 months ago.
It might be heart ruling head but the Welsh can rise to occasion this evening and get the job done in 90 mins at 6/4.
Ukraine were a dodgy penalty decision away from qualifying automatically and are arguably one of the form teams in Europe. They’ve lost just four of their last 25 official matches – only three of which have been played in their own country.
They should cruise their way past Iceland in Poland this evening. The Ice Men have won just seven competitive matches this decade – and four of those have been against Liechtenstein.
Double Ukraine up with Scotland who can get back to winning ways at Hampden. Steve Clarke’s men need to bounce back after a deflating 4-0 defeat to the Netherlands on Friday and he’ll be desperate to get some wins under his belt before the tournament starting with a win in Glasgow against Northern Ireland.
England too will be keen to avoid back-to-back defeats as their preparations for Germany continue against Belgium.
Usually reliable at home, the Three Lions slumped to a 1-0 defeat against Brazil and Gareth Southgate will not want things to turn sour ahead of Euro 2024.
Ollie Watkins missed his opportunity to stake a claim for a place in Southgate’s final squad and tonight it looks like Ivan Toney will be handed his chance. The Brentford striker is 6/4 to net in the absence of Harry Kane.
It’s hard to see England losing two in a row at Wembley and the 4/5 on a home win will be popular among punters.

Staying in the uk for my single today and heading to Gateshead for their clash with Hartlepool.
Starting with h2hs and this clash should see goals. They have played each other 7 times and always seen btts+o2.5mgls.
Both have also seen goals in their recent matches with Gateshead seeing btts in 6/7 and Hartlepool seeing it in 8/9.
The odds aren’t great and best I can find is 8/11 but I’m fine with that as a single.

Ukraine v Iceland

International football and all massive games for each team, I can’t see any teams taking to much risks with maybe the exception of Ukraine. Wales obviously never fare well against the Poles and given their recent form could hold on for a draw.
best of luck
