Thursday’s football tips: Liverpool star Wirtz 23/20 to do some damage against Leeds

Liverpool seem to be over their slump and will be out to make it five wins in a row when Leeds United head to Anfield on New Year's Day.

The Premier League champions looked like a team in crisis after losing nine of their 12 games during an alarming run of form.

They've found their mojo again in the last few weeks but it won't be easy tonight against a Leeds side who are unbeaten in their last five matches.

These sides played out a 3-3 thriller at Elland Road just a few weeks ago so we should see goals at both ends in the return.

Sunderland vs Manchester City

Manchester City have clicked into top gear in the last few months and will be out to make it nine wins in a row when they visit Sunderland tonight in the Premier League.

The Black Cats have six players away at the Africa Cup of Nations but they've coped with the absences pretty well so far, claiming draws with Brighton and Leeds.

Brentford vs Tottenham Hotspur

Thomas Frank returns to the Gtech Community Stadium for the first time tonight as he leads Tottenham into battle against former club Brentford.

Results have been mixed for the Dane since taking over at Spurs and plenty of fans haven't warmed to his style of play.

Sunday's 1-0 win away to Crystal Palace lifted some of the pressure but Frank now faces another London derby on the road.

Keith Andrews has done a good job since taking the reins and the Gtech has been a fortress, with only Manchester City winning there this season.
