City v Arsenal, 3rd v 1st, Master v Apprentice – the subplots at the Etihad this afternoon go on and on.

But the most important storyline is who will be top of the table at the end what could be a pivotal day in the 2023/24 Premier League season.

It’s the Gunners who are in pole position, one point ahead of both Liverpool and Manchester City and if they’re to win their first English title since 2004 they’ll need to leave Manchester with something today.

A win, at 14/5, would re-enforce their title credentials but defeat would leave them a mountain to climb with the toughest run-in of the three contenders still to come.

All too often though, Arsenal have come up short when it’s come to the crunch and have won just once in 19 previous Premier League away fixtures against defending champions.

Manchester City are unbeaten in 38 matches at the Etihad in all competitions, winning 33 and drawing five. We know all too well that they usually kick-on at this stage of the season and at 10/11 at home are worth siding with to edge this one.

The earlier kick-off at Anfield could be an audition for Roberto De Zerbi who has been heavily linked with upcoming vacancy in the Liverpool hot seat and has yet to sign a new contract at Brighton.

The Italian is unbeaten in all four matches against the Reds (W2 D2) and the Seagulls haven’t lost at Anfield since 2019.

A win for Liverpool will mean they can sit back and enjoy the action from the Etihad and they’re just 4/11 to claim all three points. They’ve not been beaten at home in 31 matches but have conceded in 10 of their last 11 on Merseyside so a win with both teams finding the net looks good at 13/10.

Celtic used to struggle at Livingston but they’ve won 3-0, 3-0 and 3-1 on their last three visits to the Toni Macaroni Stadium. They also put four past Livi in the cup a matter of weeks ago and can set themselves for the big Glasgow Derby next week with a comfortable win this lunchtime. Back the Hoops to score three or more at 4/5.

    Man City v Arsenal
Arsenal to win at 3/1 (NAP)
Appreciate City’s home record but without Kyle Walker and John Stones it really does weaken City. It’s not a title decider as Arsenal have two London derbies and City look to have the easier run in. Arsenal win for me.
    Best of luck

No write up today. I just can’t see either side keeping a clean sheet and both sides will be going all out for a very important win, especially if Liverpool win

    Uruguay Premier League

    Progreso v Deportivo Maldonado

The home side have started their return season to the top flight in great form. They’ve won 4 & drawn win, scoring 14 times and conceding 9… they’ve scored 3,3,4,0,4 in their opening 5 games, scoring 4 in both home games.

The H2H records aren’t too recent but Maldonado have failed too win any of their last 5 visits and their last victory here was in 2013.

    Progreso 2+ team goals 6/5

Based on the first half, it looks like the mighty Macca is spot on as usual.

It’s a bit tedious to watch though. I’d rather have a more open, expansive game but understand why Arsenal are closing things down.

    MAN CITY v ARSENAL

    SALIBA to commit a foul
    4/5 NAP (Paddy)

    ODEGAARD / DIAS commit foul
    7/5 NB (Paddy)

HAALAND / SAKA 2+ Shots on target each
    11/1 LS (Paddy)

As always with paddy power and their Suber sub guarantee meaning we get 90 minute bets regardless of subs. Honestly today I’m expecting a tight match maybe even a stalemate. Hopefully not for viewing purposes.

    21:30
    Ecuadorian Serie A 🇪🇨
    BTTS EVENS bet365…….NAP…….
BTTS and over 2.5 goals 13-8 (smaller bet)

Last 12 head to head here seen 10 BTTS.
Last 6 here seen 3+ match goals.
Favourite Cuenca’s last 7 home games were all BTTS with 6 BTTS and overs.

Delfin are a lot stronger at home and often struggle to score away.
They won 5-2 here earlier this month in a Copa sudamerica play off so hopefully have saved just 1 goal for tonight.

    Prediction 2-1
