THE only online bookmaker listing first-scorer prices on all SPFL games are McBookie.com.
It’s a great service they provide and we’ve teamed up with the Scots firm to look at some of the best bets from the Scottish lower leagues. Also, leave your pick of first scorers at the end of this article for a chance to win a £10 free bet with McBookie.com.
You can choose this weekend from the Premiership, Championship, League One and League Two. One correct entry will be picked at random to win the prize. Quote player, team, his odds and a reason if you like.
Meanwhile, here is McBookie.com’s Damian Walker with his weekend selections.
Russell McLean (Montrose)
Montrose look like they will be fighting for a play-off spot this season and have recorded two excellent victories over Cove and Airdrie in their last two games. At a shade of odds on – 4/5 – I think they look a cracking price to beat Dumbarton at home.
Russell McLean has started the season well and is currently joint top of the scoring charts with five goals. I can see his run continuing and he is 4/1 for the first goal.
Botti Biabi (Stenhousemuir)
Next, I think Stenhousemuir are overpriced to beat Elgin at 14/5. You do have to get Stenny on the right day as they have been very inconsistent this season. However, at such a big price I am prepared to give them another chance.
They have plenty of attacking options so I will take a punt on Botti Biabi at 17/2 to hit the back of the net first.
Craig Halkett & Christophe Berra (Hearts)
Finally, it is the Scottish Cup Final on Sunday as Celtic go for another Treble. Neil Lennon’s men are red hot favourites at 3/10 but they will be under huge pressure to deliver and as we know they haven’t in the best of form in recent weeks.
A Celtic victory is still the most obvious call but if Hearts can keep it tight for as long as possible then the nerves will kick in.
Celtic have struggled all season from set pieces so I am splitting stakes between Craig Halkett at 33/1 and Christophe Berra at 50/1.
