Here is McBookie.com’s Damian Walker with his weekend selections.

Charlie Adam (Dundee)

It is not quite the active January transfer window we normally get in a conventional season, but there have been exceptions, notably at Dens Park, where there have been three big arrivals this week.

Winger Paul McMullan has joined Dundee on loan from rivals Dundee United and will join the club permanently at the end of the season.

Striker Jason Cummings has joined Dundee from League One side Shrewsbury on an 18-month deal and the final new boy is 18-year-old Tottenham defender Malachi Fagan-Walcott, who joins on loan until the end of the season.

These are pretty serious signings and Fagan-Walcott is an England youth International, who made his Spurs debut in a Champions League last-16 clash away at RB Leipzig last year.

Charlie Adam has carried a lot on his shoulders this season and these new arrivals will surely help lift the load and it isn’t even as if Dundee have been in bad form recently – having been unbeaten in their last seven Championship games.

Every season in this column I bang on about how the bookies fail to take into account January transfer activity in the Scottish leagues, especially outside of the Premeirship, and it looks like being no different this time around.

The “new” Dundee side have been chalked up at 11/8 to win away at Raith Rovers and that looks cracking value to me.

Adam has scored six goals so far this season for Dundee and is also on the penalties and I look the look of the 11/2 on offer with McBookie about him opening the scoring.

Andre Wright (Ayr United)

Staying in the Championship I also thought the addition of Bohemians striker Andre Wright to Ayr United was a very good move.

Wright effectively replaces Bruce Anderson, who has returned to Aberdeen after a disappointing loan spell at Somerset Park.

Anderson scored just twice in 13 appearances for the Honest Men, who have scored just 16 goals in 12 Championship matches and only five at home.

Wright scored 13 goals in 27 appearances for Bohemians and was named in the PFAI team of the year for 2020.

Given the paucity of goals at Somerset Park this season I would expect Wright to go straight into the starting 11 for their home game with Alloa Athletic.

McBookie make him 4/1 to open the scoring against the Wasps.

Scott Robinson (Livingston)

Finally, it looks as if Livingston were able to come down in time from their League Cup semi-final win over St Mirren to see off Kilmarnock in midweek and they are at home to Aberdeen on Saturday.

Livi boss David Martingale was this week deemed a fit and proper person by the Scottish FA and it seems as though he is a fit and proper manager based on an incredible run of form since he has taken over as manager.

Aside from making the League Cup final, Martingale’s side are unbeaten in 12 games having won 10 of them – drawing twice with Celtic in the other two.

That is incredible form and odds of 9/5 about them to beat an Aberdeen side with one win in five and a manager under pressure.

Livi midfielder Scott Robinson scored the only goal of the famous League Cup win over St Mirren earlier this month and has scored five times from his last 10 games.

He is 7/1 with McBookie to open the scoring on Saturday.
