FRIDAY night marks a welcomed return of domestic football across the continent and I'm going to start the weekend off by delving into Ligue 1 in France.
Dijon vs Rennes ( Friday, 18:00)
Ligue 1 leaders Rennes will be looking to continue their impressive start to the season when they travel to rock-bottom Dijon on Friday night.
Julien Stephan's side have won four and drawn two of their opening six assignments of the campaign and they will be confident of extending that sequence at the Stade Gaston Gerard.
Dijon, meanwhile, have drawn one and lost five of their opening six French top-flight matches of the season and as a consequence find themselves propping up the table.
The Owls onerous start to the season can be attributed to their leaky backline – Dijon have shipped 13 goals across six outings thus far – a goals-against average of 2.16 goals per game.
Such defensive frailty does not bode well ahead of a Friday night bout with a red-hot Rennes outfit who have scored at least twice in each of their opening six Ligue 1 matches of the season.
Rennes are odds-on a general 8/11 to add to Dijon's woes this weekend, however, I'm going to opt for an alternative angle with the view to getting Rennes onside by making use of PaddyPower's Same Game Multi feature.
