After delivering another winner in his featured column last weekend, SlipsTips shares two selections from Partick Thistle's meeting with Greenock Morton in the Scottish Championship on Saturday.

Partick Thistle vs Greenock Morton (Saturday 15:00)

Partick Thistle will be targeting three points from their opening Scottish Championship fixture of the season when they face Greenock Morton at Firhill on Saturday afternoon.

Having narrowly missed out on promotion via the play-offs in each of the last two seasons, Kris Doolan’s side are among the bookmakers favourites to go up as champions this time around.

As for Greenock Morton, the early signs point towards a season of struggle for Dougie Imrie and his side, and they could hardly have asked for a tougher start to the season with a trip to Glasgow's west end.

Partick have been priced up as 4/5 favourites on Betfair and I'm more than happy to back the home team to prevail at that price.

The Jags will have their sights set on the title and they will head into their curtain-raiser in confident mood after outplaying Scottish Premiership mainstays Motherwell for large spells during last Sunday's 0-0 draw at Fir Park in the Premier Sports Cup.

What's more, the Maryhill club have largely managed to keep their squad intact, and they are looking a lot stronger after a smart summer of recruitment.

In contrast, Morton have endured a more extreme overhaul following a huge turnover of players during the off-season.

The Ton looked very much like a set of strangers thrown together for the first time when losing 3-0 to Scottish League Two outfit East Fife in their Premier Sports Cup opener and their subsequent three performances were nothing to write home about.

On top of that, Firhill was far from a happy hunting ground for the Cappielow club last season, as they headed back to Inverclyde empty-handed on both occasions.

Given how the two teams are each shaping up heading into the Scottish Championship campaign, the opportunity to support Partick Thistle makes plenty of sense at the prices.

After ending the 2023–24 season with 26 goals in all competitions, Brian Graham also merits consideration for an anytime goalscorer strike on Saturday at 6/5 on Bet 365.

The Thistle skipper notched three goals across his four Premier Sports Cup appearances, not to mention he grabbed three goals against the Greenock side last season.
