After delivering four winners from five selections on Saturday, SlipsTips is back with a trio of picks from Ligue 1 on Sunday, with Montpellier's meeting with Toulouse taking centre-stage.
Montpellier vs Toulouse (Sunday, 14:00)
Montpellier will endeavour to extend their unbeaten run in Ligue 1 to eight matches when they take on Toulouse on Sunday afternoon.
The decision to re-appoint Michel Der Zakarian is reaping rewards for Montpellier who have strung together a seven-game unbeaten run to haul themselves away from the drop zone, most recently earning a well-deserved 1-1 draw at Marseille.
Despite making the trip to the Stade de la Mosson having lost five of their six Ligue 1 matches, Toulouse also are also ticking along nicely in the comfort of mid-table
Montpellier will have their backers here at a general 11/10, but I'm more than happy to instead side with the home team with a -0-25 start on the Asian Handicap at 5/6 (Betfair).
This selection sees our stakes split, with half going on Montpellier draw no bet and the other half going on the outright win, and that looks worth taking on when you consider the contrasting form these two teams find themselves in.
As already alluded to, Montpellier have been a resurgent force in recent weeks and they will still be hoping to achieve a top half finish this season.
What’s more, La Paillade have pocketed 10 points from a possible 12 on home turf since the aforementioned Der Zakarian returned to their dugout and they will be quietly confident of landing another three points here against a similar standard of opposition.
While Toulouse have exceeded all expectations this campaign following the promotion form Ligue 2 last term, their recent league performances have bared all of the hallmarks of a side who very much appear to have put all of their eggs in a Coupe de France shaped basket.
Philippe Montanier’s men secured their place in this year's final with a 2-1 win away at Annecy on Thursday night and I suspect their midweek exertions could take their toll when they come up against what is currently one of the most in-form teams in the French top-flight.
Therefore, siding with a Montpellier side that will come into this fixture feeling fresh upbeat with a -0-25 start looks solid value at 5/6 (Betfair).
With all things considered, the 11/10 available with Betfred for Montpellier to score two or more goals here also holds plenty of appeal.
The Occitanie outfit have scored a minimum of two goals in three of their last four home matches and they look tempting enough to continue that trend against a Toulouse team that have shipped 2+ strikes in four of their last six league games.
Finally, I’ll also head to the anytime goalscorer market and have a play on Montpellier forward Elye Wahi to get on the scoresheet at 15/8 (Betfair).
The highly-rated French forward has found the back of the net five times across his last six appearances for the hosts and he looks a lovely price to continue his fine form in front of goal when faced with a Toulouse side with just one clean sheet in their last 11 Ligue 1 assignments.
