Saturday’s Top Tips: Christmas Gifts to be Found in the Corners

IT'S a case of ‘over to you Celtic' for the third time in eight days as Rangers cut the gap at the top of the Premiership to six points once again with a win last night.

The Hoops have responded perfectly with two wins from two and should do so again this afternoon when St Johnstone come visiting.

Ange Postecoglou was unhappy with some individual perfomances in their 2-1 win over Livingston so there could be some personnel changes to the starting XI. That shouldn't depreciate the quality on show however given the strength in depth available to the Australian.

But St Johnstone make the trip to Glasgow in good shape. They're unbeaten in six, dating back to the end of October but they've not enjoyed much success against the Hoops in recent times. Celtic took seven off them the last time they visited Celtic Park so Callum Davidson may set up to frustrate and avoid an early concession.

Like in their last two games Celtic will no doubt enjoy the lion's share of possession which should lead to another high corner count. Postecoglou will have given them a rocket after Wednesday's perfomance so we should expect another fast start. We cashed in an early corner for the Bhoys and we can do so again today. It's 8/11 they're awarded one inside 10 minutes.

That in itself might be attractive enough but double it up with a Celtic win to take us nearer evens at 20/21.

Celtic raced to eight first half corners in midweek and that's a bet that paid dividends last season. It's 13/10 they hit over four in the first 45 today.

The Premiership's other three matches all pose their own conundrums.

St Mirren boast some decent home form but have gone off the boil lately. They host Aberdeen who must pick them up after two late, late defeats to Celtic and Rangers. The Dons have been really disappointing on the road with just two wins in eight. However, the bookies still make them favourites to win in Paisley at 13/8.

Hearts have drifted to a backable 11/8 at Tannadice. With European football out of the equation now and players returning to fitness the Jambos should kick on and strengthen their claim for third place in the table. Dundee United have won just one in seven in all competitions and find themselves at the foot of the table and it's going to be a battle for survival for the Arabs from here on in.

At Easter Road Hibs are in desperate need of a win against Livingston. The Hibees have won just one in eight to pile the pressure on manager Lee Johnson. With games against Celtic and Hearts coming up next the Englishman cannot afford another defeat today.

Livi continue to defy the critics and could conceivably end the day third in the table. They've won the last four meetings with Hibs and you'd rather be on them at 7/2 than the home side at 17/20. Alternatively they can be backed at 10/11 not to lose, on the Double Chance market.
