England begin life after Gareth Southgate as Lee Carsley takes charge for tonight's UEFA Nations League clash with the Republic of Ireland.

Carsley could have easily been in the other dugout tonight, as the former Republic midfielder was heavily linked with the Irish job before Heimir Hallgrimsson took charge.

He's now leading the Three Lions on a temporary basis, but a strong Nations League campaign could help him stay in the job full-time. So, Carsley will be looking to start with a win against an Irish side that looks in poor shape after Stephen Kenny's disastrous reign.

Republic of Ireland vs England top betting tips

Most England fans are hoping Carsley takes the shackles off, having grown tired of the pragmatism that characterised the Southgate era. He's without two of his most creative players, Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden, who are injured, but there's still plenty of talent in reserve.

That's why over 1.5 England goals is priced at just 8/11 by Betfred but there's little value in that so going for the scorer markets is wiser.

Eberechi Eze should play in the No.10 role and is a tempting 11/4 for anytime scorer. It might be safer backing him for either a goal or an assist at 5/4 with Bet365. For a long-odds punt, he's 14/1 to score from outside the box.

Ireland keeper Caoimhin Kelleher could have a busy day and I like the 11/8 at Bet365 for him to make over 3.5 saves.

Germany vs Hungary top tips

Germany are back in action for the first time since their painful Euro 2024 exit as they take on Hungary in their UEFA Nations League opener.

The hosts impressed in the summer, but their party ended early, as Spain edged them out in extra time in a quarter-final thriller.

Julian Nagelsmann has remained at the helm, and his exciting young side should have too much class for the Hungarians.

Betfred makes the Germans 1/4 hot favourites but the price is better at 5/6 if you back them to score in both halves.

Florian Wirtz will be looking to build on a promising Euros, and the Leverkusen wonderkid is 13/8 for anytime scorer.

Georgia vs Czech Republic top betting tips

One of the most intriguing Nations League games today comes in Georgia as the Euro 2024 shock troops look to build on a brilliant summer by beating the Czechs.

The Georgians were one of the stories of the Euros as they stunned star-studded Portugal on their way to reaching the knockout stages against the odds.

The Czechs were in the same group in Germany but ended up finishing bottom, their only point coming in a 1-1 draw with Georgia.

Tbilisi is always a tough venue to visit so the home win looks decent value at 9/4 with Betfred. It should be a tight game, though, and the half-time draw looks a safer bet at 23/20.

    Over 3.5 goals at 12/5

There’s only one way Georgia play these days and that’s on the front foot, they will cause the Cech’s problems and vice versa which should lead to goals.. Ireland aren’t the greatest at scoring goals, England should have enough to keep them out and in the game..
    Best of luck

Georgia performed well elvis also had them to win at 3/1. Well underated by a lot of folk including the bookies. I see why Liverpool have signed their goalkeeper future star. England made it look easy and Ireland never had a decent chance. Well done on yours lar.
