The don't come any bigger than the Champions League final and they don't come much bigger than Liverpool v Real Madrid.
Between them they've been crowned champions of Europe 19 times and appeared in no fewer than 25 finals so it's one for the traditionalist in Paris tonight as two of Europe's most successful clubs go toe-to-toe for the biggest prize in European football.
They did of course meet in the final four years ago and Liverpool will feel they owe Madrid one from that 2018 final when a calamitous performance by Loris Karius and an incredible overhead kick by Gareth Bale helped the Spaniards to a 3-1 win.
The bookies make Liverpool favourites to lift the trophy at 4/7 whilst it's 13/8 for the Real Madrid to rule Europe for a 14th time.
The Road to the Final
Liverpool cruised through a tough-looking Group B, which included two former winners of the trophy in the shape of AC Milan and Porto as well as 2016 finalists Atletico Madrid. The Reds impressively won all six ties, trailing just once, in the final match at the San Siro.
Klopp's side had a reasonably straight-forward route to the final thereafter but things got a bit too close for comfort in the last 16 when Inter threatened to overturn a 2-0 first leg defeat but could only manage a 1-0 win in the return leg at Anfield. That was followed by relatively comfortable ties against Benfica (6-3) and Villarreal (5-2).
Real Madrid have led a charmed life en route to the Stade de France. Sheriff Tiraspol's win in Madrid was arguably the biggest shock in Champions League history but Ancelotti's men never really looked back after that and won the group on 15 points.
Cue a blockbuster last 16 tie with PSG and a 95th minute goal from Madrid target Kylian Mbappe separated the sides in Paris before Karim Benzema stepped up with a 17-minute hat-trick to turn things around at the Bernabeu after the hosts had fallen two goals behind in the tie thanks to another Mbappe strike.
That defiance, that momentum, that belief has defined Real's run in the competition. They found themselves three goals down at Stamford Bridge but limited the damage by leaving London with a 3-2 loss thanks to two late goals. That gave them the platform to progress, winning 3-1 in the return leg.
Then came an unbelievable comeback against Man City when they looked dead and buried. They hung in there like a punch-drunk boxer at the Etihad, never allowing Pep Guardiola's to effectively knock them out. That 4-3 defeat was 5-3 by the time the clock reached 89 minutes in the Spanish capital before Rodrygo and Benzema goals forced extra-time in the space of a frantic couple of minutes. The deadly Benzema then killed off City in extra-time to set up tonight's heavyweight clash. Write off Real Madrid at your peril.
Betting Angles
There must be a feeling in Madrid that their name is written on the cup this year. Not only have they already knocked-out two of the tournament favourites in PSG and Man City but their never-say-die attitude makes them a very dangerous proposition at 14/5 (SBK) this evening.
For a short period of time last weekend it looked like Liverpool might nick the Premier League from Manchester City but those hopes faded quickly while Liverpool huffed and puffed their way past Wolves. Injuries have taken their toll on the squad in recent weeks too and they've struggled to hit top form towards the end of the season. They look vulnerable at even money.
There'll be plenty keen to take that price though, and to be fair, if Liverpool bring their A-game they'll beat anyone in the world but they've not been firing on all cylinders and Madrid wont go quietly. The Spaniards appeal in the Double Chance market at 5/6 with SBK, or on the Draw No Bet Market at 7/4.
Late goals have been a feature of Real Madrid's matches in the competition and it's 5/6 for a goal after the 76th minute. Remember that also includes any injury time and we can expect a fair bit of that if there's not much between the sides. It's a bet that would've landed in 4 of Madrid's knock-out matches and two of Liverpool's.

Early play off semi in the National League, fancy BTTS score but I’m gonna stick corners in rather than cards.
Wrexham v Grimsby
These 2 sides didn’t collect many cards through the season, Wrexham 56Y & Grimsby 57Y in 44 games only bettered by Day & Red 54.
The ref is Adam Herczeg and he is averaging around 3.5 yellows per gam with 50 in 14 matches this season so not exactly prolific either.
Both sides feature high in the corners for department however.
Wrexham earned 157 corners over 22 home games at an average of 7.14 putting them 3rd for home corner average
Grimsby earned 128 in 22 aways at an average of 5.82 which was 2nd only too champions Stockport
BTTS and 4+ corners each at 23/10 for me in this or BTTS and 3+ corners is a safer 7/5

Going for the corner market in the CLF. Real only had a total of 9 corners v Chelsea 2 + 1 City 3+3. 2 of the matches also went to ET . Liverpool usually rack them up so going for ht/ft Liverpool 10/11. Also -1 8/11 + -2 21/20. All WH. Post more bets later once i have had a look. Gid luk people.
Maybe I’m missing something but Brage look overpriced to score 2+ against Norrby in the Swedish 2nd tier
Brage 2+ goals 13/8 3+ 11/2
They scored 2 but disappointed with the 3+ as they missed a penalty 😔
BTTS and 4+ corners each at 23/10 for me in this or BTTS and 3+ corners is a safer 7/5✅

Erislandy Lara v Spike O’Sullivan.
39 year Lara recently moved up to middleweight, winning the vacant WBA regular world title against a fighter who’s probably not (in my opinion) even in the top 100 in the world!
37 year old Spike has been around the block a few times and has campaigned at middleweight for around 13years.
Personally, I can’t see either man being stopped.
It’s 7/4 in most places for the fight to go the distance.

Well done to Real Madrid on winning the CL but how Clement Turpin gets given a match of such magnitude to officiate blows my mind. One of the worst referees in Europe IMO!
Shouldn’t Madrid’s goal have stood just before half time ?
That wasnt him, it was the var team
A more pressing question would be why Liverpool have played 3 cup finals, 330 minutes in total and not scored a goal.
They blagged the 2 domestic cups on penalties.
I think their involvement in all these cups may have cost them the 2 big ones, premiership and champions League as the amount of games may have caught up with them.
The Madrid goal was rightfully disallowed. I’ve watched a good few of his matches and so often he lets players run the game and shows no authority.
Couple Errors he made tonight include:
1. Not allowing Liverpool to take a quick throw in – Madrid get numbers behind ball.
2. Vinicius making a clear dive on counter trying to con referee – No Yellow Card shown.
I agree on your final point, some players look like they have ran out of steam due to amount of games played and lacked that intensity. I’m bitter coz I had a bet Inplay on Both Team to be carded in second half, more fool me that I expected it to sail in!
Liverpool need a jan molby or Alonso type passer in midfield, thiago doesnt do it for me and roll on Kieta leaves, feck me he is shite!
Midfield their weak point, miss the Stevie G type player who can go and win a game if up front arent gona get u the goal!
Madrid won that with their coach, fair play. If liverpool hada scored that offside goal i would have been bouncing!
Real Madrid won it convincingly. They were good in every department and the scousers weren’t good enough.

good night and well done winners today
Wouldnt say convincingly just defended well and got their tactics right.
Pool didnt press enough, everytime they had it out wide ready to get it in there was nobody in the box to pass to.
Diaz didnt have a good game, but sure might be a kick in the hole to let them know gona need to get a cupla decent players in to keep up with City. Looking forward to see how Haaland gets on next season, hes class, and de bruyne firing passes into him could be hectic!
Ps goal in both halfs MLS tonight,
