WOLVERHMAPTON WANDERERS will be looking to pick up their first Premier League win of the season when they meet Newcastle United at Molineux on Sunday.
After failing to win any of their final seven league games last term, Wolves’ worrying form has carried over into the new campaign.
Bruno Lage’s side have only one point to show for their efforts so far, which came courtesy of a goalless draw with newly-promoted Fulham a fortnight ago.
Last time out, the Old Gold fell to a narrow a 1-0 loss at Tottenham – on an afternoon where my anytime goalscorer tip trapped – and they are in for another tough test when Newcastle come to town this weekend.
While Newcastle have only won one of their opening three games of the season, the St James’ Park faithful have plenty to be pleased about.
The Magpies continued their impressive form and unbeaten start to the 2022/23 season with a thrilling 3-3 draw with Premier League champions Manchester City last Sunday.

Newcastle United have drawn their last two league matches and the same outcome on Sunday can be backed at 11/5 (Betfred) while a Toon triumph is trading at 9/5 (William Hill).

This feels like a tricky fixture to tackle from a 1×2 perspective, so I'm going to steer clear of the match result market and instead merge Newcastle to score, over two Newcastle corners and each team to receive a card at 5/6 (Bet 365).
The Toon have evidently upped their attacking output under Eddie Howe's tutorship, striking at least once in 24 of their 32 Premier League outings under the Englishman's watch.
That doesn't bode well for a Wolves side that is far from watertight, having posted just one clean sheet across their last 12 top-flight outings.
As such, I'm more than happy to back the Magpies to make the net bugle at Molineux, but I'll also go with the visitors to hit a minimum of three corner kicks.
Newcastle have hit a sizeable 17 corners across their opening three league games of the season, five of which were against star-studded Man City last weekend.
To round off the Bet Builder, I'll go with each team to receive a card in what should be a closely-fought contest in the Black Country.
Bruno Lage's hosts were averaging 1.63 cards per-game last season, while Newcastle's tally sat at 2.03, not to mention referee Peter Bankes was flashing a shade under five cards per-game in the Premier League last season.
