ROSS COUNTY have never beaten Rangers but will fancy their chances of breaking that duck in Dingwall after a dismal week for the Ibrox club.
Steven Gerrard's men followed up their Scottish Cup exit at Tynecastle by crashing to a shock 1-0 loss to Hamilton at Ibrox in midweek.
So they have lost to the team propping up the Premiership table twice in just four days, with Hearts briefly climbing off bottom with a derby win on Tuesday before Accies jumped back above them with that Ibrox victory.
It has been infuriating trying to predict which Rangers team will turn up for games since the winter break. I backed Gerrard's side to win at St Johnstone last month off the back of an incredible first-leg comeback against Braga in the Europa League, only for Saints to grab a late leveller in a 2-2 draw.
After that blow I thought Braga would have too much class for Gers in the Euro return yet the Ibrox side turned in a superb performance in Portugal to reach the last 16.
Everyone thought that would spark Rangers' domestic campaign back to life but instead Gerrard's side have crashed to successive defeats to leave fans raging.
There's clearly something wrong in the Rangers camp so a long bus trip up the Highlands is the last thing they need as they bid to stop a total implosion.
But Rangers have a great record against Ross County and the Staggies are in poor form themselves, winning just two of their last 13 games.
How the bookies view it
Plenty of punters will fancy a nibble at the 11/1 Betfair are offering on a historic County win, especially if Rangers play as badly as they have in their last two outings.
Even the draw is as big as 6/1 with Bet365 while the best price on a win for Gerrard's side is 2/7 at Boylesports.
But the Old Firm rarely lose three games in a row, even in their darkest days, so that's probably why the bookies can't see another upset here.
Recent head to head
Although Ross County have never beaten Rangers in a competitive game, they did hold the Ibrox side to three successive Premiership draws in season 2016/17.
But that's as good as it has got for the Dingwall well, who have lost their eight other meetings with Rangers. It's a fixture Gerrard's men have bossed this season, winning 4-0 in the Highlands back in October (below) before easing to a 2-0 victory at Ibrox in January.
Players to watch
Billy Mckay has rediscovered his shooting boots for County, netting five in his last five games. The Northern Ireland international has previous when it comes to shooting down Rangers, netting a late winner for Inverness against them three years ago.
He could get some joy against a defence that has been gifting goals and looks good value at 5/1 with 888Sport for anytime scorer.
I'd expect Gerrard (below) to ring the chances after that awful performance in midweek and Jermain Defoe could be handed a start.
The veteran Englishman netted against County in the 2-0 home win at Ibrox in January and is good value for a goal, even if he has to settle for coming off the bench. But Defoe is sadly just 3/4 with 888Sport to net.
Anything else catch the eye?
Both teams to score should come up if Rangers defend as badly as they did against Hearts and Accies. It's a best 11/10 with Bet365.
I can see this being quite tight so that lends value to the 21/10 Betway are offering on a one-goal winning margin for either side.
