NEWCASTLE UNITED suffered Champions League heartache in midweek when their European dream died on Tyneside.
And they face a Fulham side on Saturday who have gone goal crazy in their last two games.
Eddie Howe's side took the lead against AC Milan, but conceded twice to send them to the bottom of the group and make it three losses in a row in all competions.
Fulham have rocketed up to the top half of the table after a couple of remarkable results. They hammered Nottingham Forest 5-0 at Craven Cottage.
And then they sent London neighbours West Ham United back to the east end of the capital with their tails scurrying between their legs after a second 5-0 annihilation in a row.
They also came within ten minutes of winning at Anfield before two late Liverpool goals saw them lost 4-3. So they have scored 14 goals in their last three games.
Given how hard it is to win any game in the Premier League, these are two wins that should make the rest sit up…but they were both at home.
And Fulham have only won one game away from Hammersmith all season and Newcastle have won seven of their eight home games.
How the bookies view it
Newcastle United are odds-on but only just. They can be backed at 20/23 with Coral. Fulham are 3/1 with Paddy Power and the draw is 14/5 with bet365.
Recent head to heads
Newcastle did the double on Fulham last season with a 1-0 win at Tyneside and a 4-1 win in the capital.
The hosts are unbeaten in their last six meetings between the clubs.
Players to watch
Anthony Gordon has chapped in with some big goals for the Geordies this season including the winner against Manchester United the other week. He is 7/2 to score anytime.
Mexican playmaker Raul Jimenez has scored three goals in his last two games for Fulham and is 3/1 with Paddy Power to add to that.
Anything else catch the eye?
The way Fulham are playing and the confidence they must take going into this must surely give them a real chance against a Newcastle side who are still injury depleted and had that midweek Champions League humbling.
Fulham on the double chance win or draw at a generous 49/50 with UniBet looks the call.
The Cottagers have goals galore in their locker. They managed three at Liverpool and are a big price to score two goals or more at 2/1 with Betfred.
Both teams to score is surely a stick-on too if you are prepared to take the odds-on price of 4/6 with bet365.
