Huddersfield Town vs Manchester United

, KO: 14:00 May 5, 2019, The John Smith's Stadium
Manchester United

ALL was well when Ole got behind the wheel at Old Trafford but now the Norwegian may be beginning to think that he has been flung under the bus by his Manchester United squad.

Following a measly run of two wins in their last 11 games Manchester United head to Huddersfield aiming to halt a miserable couple of months that coincide with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer securing the Old Trafford hot seat on a permanent basis.

The Red Devils could still rescue their season by securing Champions League football and are big favourites at 1/3 with most bookmakers to beat basement boys Huddersfiled on Sunday. It has been a calamitous second season in the top-flight for the Yorkshire men and that is reflected in them being priced as high as 19/4 (Bet 365) to draw and a towering 10/1 (Betfred) to win and stun Solskjaers's side.

Huddersfield may have won this fixture last season but a repeat here is unlikely after the Terriers were relegated in record-equalling time way back in March. Jan Siewert's strugglers currently prop up the Premier League table with a pitiful 14 points and only eight of that timid total were obtained at the John Smith's Stadium.

In order to maintain their top-four challenge Manchester United will have to ensure the Terriers do not add to their eight points at home on the penultimate Sunday of the Premier League season.

Following defeats to Barcelona, Everton and Man City the Red Devils stopped the rot last Sunday at home to Chelsea. Another David de Gea blunder gave Chelsea a share of the spoils after Juan Mata had fired United into a 1-0 lead.

Mata appears to be one of the few players Solskjaer is keen to retain ahead of a Summer rebuild after he was reportedly offered a new deal by United. The 31 year old Spanish playmaker has been used sparingly this season but he could again demonstrate why moves are being made to keep him at Old Trafford by grabbing another goal on Sunday at 7/2 (Paddy Power)

Whether or not Mata finds the net remains to be seen, however United should definitely score against a side who have shipped 21 goals in their last six games. Last Friday night I successfully tipped Liverpool to win to nil against the Terriers and I think taking that approach could pay dividends again this weekend.

Taking that path comes with risk seeing as the Red Devils have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 13 outings but they should shut out the shot shy hosts and give David de Gea a confidence boosting clean sheet in doing so. As such, I fancy backing Manchester United To Win To Nil at 5/4 (BetVictor)

An away win is imperative for a Red Devils side who have lost their last five games on the road and following Spurs setback on the south coast on Saturday, United should seize this opportunity to further tighten up the race for Champions League qualification.

Despite their defensive deficiencies United have plenty of firepower that can hurt hapless Huddersfield Town. Therefore, another approach to consider in trying to find value in an away win may be to back Manchester United To Win Both Halfs at Evens (Coral). In doing so, Ole can get his sides top-four challenge back on track and steer his side to a much needed three points.
