The National League programme continues across Friday and Saturday, with several fixtures bringing together teams whose results and underlying numbers point in different directions. This column enters the weekend with a strong record. Non-League: 45 bets, +6.80 units, +15.10% ROI. Maintaining those returns requires selectivity rather than following the shortest prices on the card.
The three selections come from Meadow Park, The Lamb Ground and the Furness Building Society Stadium. One focuses on the league's strongest home side, another targets a team with reliable attacking production, while the final match features a clear contrast between home defending and away chance creation.
Recent scorelines provide part of the picture. Venue records, xG, xGA and shot volume reveal more about the likely shape of each contest.
Boreham Wood v Hartlepool United
Boreham Wood welcome Hartlepool United to Meadow Park on Saturday, with kick-off at 15:00. The hosts return home after extending their winning run with a 2-1 success at Woking on Tuesday night.
Their home record provides the strongest starting point. Boreham Wood have won six and drawn one of seven league matches at Meadow Park, scoring 21 goals and conceding eight. Every home appearance has produced at least two Boreham Wood goals.
The underlying numbers support their results. Luke Garrard's side average 1.88 xG and allow 1.04 xGA at home, giving them a +0.84 xG difference. They also produce 13.29 shots and 7.14 shots on target while facing only 6.57 attempts per match.
Tuesday's victory offered further evidence of control. Boreham Wood created 1.47 xG at Woking and restricted their opponents to 0.63. Seven of their seven shots found the target, while Woking managed one accurate attempt.
Hartlepool arrive after losing 3-1 at AFC Fylde. They generated 1.02 xG from six shots, but allowed five efforts on target and suffered their sixth defeat in eight away fixtures.
The visitors average 1.20 xG and concede 1.62 xGA on the road. Their away matches have brought nine goals scored and 16 conceded, with Hartlepool allowing at least two goals six times.
The total-goals restriction is supported by both venue records. Five of Boreham Wood's seven home games and six of Hartlepool's eight trips have contained no more than four goals. Boreham Wood have won while staying below the line in five home matches, with the same outcome appearing in five Hartlepool away defeats.
- Best bet: Boreham Wood to win and under 4.5 goals at 10/11 with Ladbrokes
Tamworth v Woking
A five-goal performance in midweek sends Tamworth into this weekends meeting with Woking at The Lamb Ground in strong attacking form. Andy Peaks' side beat Scunthorpe United 4-1 on Tuesday, registering seven shots on target from 10 attempts.
Tamworth have scored in all seven home league matches, producing 15 goals. They have reached two or more in five, including four of their past five at The Lamb Ground.
Chance creation provides firmer support than the scoring trend alone. Tamworth average 1.88 xG at home and allow 1.03 xGA, a +0.85 difference. Their attacking averages stand at 14.43 shots and 6.71 shots on target, placing regular pressure on visiting defences.
The midweek win was not built on speculative finishing. Tamworth generated 1.62 xG and limited Scunthorpe to 1.12. Seven accurate attempts produced four goals, while the visitors managed two efforts on target.
Woking have yet to keep an away clean sheet. Seven trips have brought 10 goals conceded, with three opponents scoring at least twice. Their away xGA stands at 1.58, and they allow 11.14 shots and 5.29 shots on target per match.
The visitors carry enough attacking threat to keep the contest open. Woking have scored three goals in each of their past three away matches, winning at Eastleigh and Scunthorpe after a 5-2 success at Carlisle United. An opponent willing to attack should create further space for Tamworth.
The home side's scoring rate, xG production and shooting volume all support another multiple-goal return. Woking's absence of an away clean sheet removes one of the main concerns around the selection.

Barrow v Eastleigh
Eastleigh face another difficult away assignment when they visit Barrow at the Furness Building Society Stadium. Their 2-0 defeat at Forest Green Rovers on Wednesday continued a poor sequence on the road.
The Spitfires have taken one win and six defeats from seven away matches. They have scored four goals and failed to find the net three times. None of those seven fixtures has produced more than one Eastleigh goal.
Their attacking process explains the low return. Eastleigh average 0.93 xG, 5.43 shots and 2.14 shots on target away. Opponents average 1.48 xG and 10 attempts against them, leaving Richard Hill's side with a -0.55 away xG difference.
Wednesday's performance followed the same pattern. Forest Green created 1.93 xG from 13 shots and placed nine on target. Eastleigh produced 0.94 xG from five attempts during a second consecutive away match without scoring.
Barrow's defensive record at home creates a difficult matchup. Andy Whing's side have conceded five goals in six matches and kept three clean sheets. They allow 1.06 xGA, seven shots and 3.17 shots on target per home fixture.
Their past four home games have all ended in victory. Sutton United and Scunthorpe United were beaten 3-0, Aldershot Town lost 1-0 and Wealdstone scored once in a 2-1 defeat. Barrow have not conceded more than one goal during this run.
The hosts have scored in every home match, so their side of the market carries limited concern. The selection rests mainly on Eastleigh's low chance production against a defence allowing little volume. Across the two relevant venue records, one team has failed to score in seven of 13 matches.
