The fixtures for the ninth matchday of Ligue 1 are spread evenly across the weekend, but Friday's three are likely to draw the most attention.

Each of the top three teams will be in action, which is reason enough to switch on the telly. PSG and Rennes face seemingly easier away fixtures, whilst Lille host the combative Lens in the late kick-off.

Don’t miss a single opportunity Ligue 1 offers, with our expert tips and predictions for every match.

Today’s Ligue 1 betting tips & predictions

Le Havre vs. PSG (6pm)

Le Havre are the only team left in Ligue 1 without a single win after eight rounds, which makes this match look like a foregone conclusion.

They are scoring goals, which is one positive, but at the back they are completely disorganised. That’s a major problem when you’re facing the strongest team in the world, especially when they’re in top form.

Even if PSG field a rotated side, they should have no trouble dealing with Le Havre; I reckon they’ll score at least three goals.

Nice vs. Rennes (6pm)

It’s fair to say that Nice are in one of their best runs of form in recent years, having recorded three wins in their last four matches. They even beat Lille at home very recently.

Rennes are deservedly second in the league, but certainly not because of their strong away form. In their last two away matches, they lost 4–0 to Lyon and 4–3 to Paris FC.

It is precisely the home side’s good form and Rennes’ inconsistency on the road that lead me to believe we could see at least one goal at each end.

Lille vs. Lens (8:05pm)

Lens’ struggles in the Champions League are plain to see, but at least in Ligue 1 they have returned to winning ways, having recorded three consecutive victories ahead of this match.

Lille, on the other hand, have not won a single match in their last four across all competitions, with their poor defensive display being the most memorable aspect of the past month. They will certainly be counting on home advantage and their strong historical record against Lens here.

In any case, I expect to see a very closely fought clash between two of the favourites for a top-four finish this season.
