FIRST off, welcome to the new season! We’ve only got a week and a half until the first game of the season (sneak preview; I think the Packers beat the Bears) so I wanted to have a quick blitz through some of my favourite picks for the coming season.

Chicago Bears – Bears to miss the playoffs

I like the under on the Bears this year, they’re set at 9.5 in the majority of books and I just can’t see it.

They had a perfect year last year, few injuries, and the 3rd easiest schedule in the league. They took advantage of it, winning 12 games on the back of dominant defensive performances all season leading the league in interceptions with 27 last year.

This is my worry for them, teams just don’t repeat dominant defense, and losing their defensive coordinator Vic Fanggio to the Broncos will hurt this team. I don’t think their offense is good enough to compensate for a downturn in defensive performance.

Add to that it’s a very tough division this year with the Packers and Vikings likely competing and even the Lions not awful this year.

  • You could take u9.5 wins for the Bears at 10/11 or so, but it’s actually better odds for the Bears to miss the playoffs at 11/10 on Skybet.

Arizona Cardinals – over 304 points

The Cardinals were terrible last year, there’s not really another word for it, they couldn’t score and ran the fewest plays in many a year, so they changed it all up over the summer, out went their HC and starting QB to be replaced by younger, more fun models.

Kyler Murray became the first player to be drafted in the first round of both Baseball and NFL drafts, and Kliff Kingsbury brings in the air-raid offense fresh from college. It means they’ll probably lead the league in 4 WR sets, meaning a lot of plays, a lot of chunk gains and hopefully a lot of scoring.

The fact that their defense could potentially be shocking this year gives me even more confidence in the points flowing for the Cardinals. If they concede at one end they’ve got to score more at the other to be in with a chance of winning any games at all.

  • Cardinals: over 304 points – 13/10 (365)

Oakland Raiders – Derek Carr: over 4000.5 passing yards

The Raiders finally seem to be making some moves on offense after leaving Derek Carr with practically nothing to throw to last season, despite that he still managed to finish with over 4,000 passing yards.

His tight end Jared Cook was the leader in receiving, and while he moves on they’ve brought in a hall of fame WR, he might be a little bit gone in the head, but he’s still brilliant on the field, Antonio Brown improves this offense to no end.

Add to that Tyrell Williams who has a 1,000 yard season under his belt whilst at the Chargers, a player who was described by some as the best pass catcher in the class when he was drafted, the running back Josh Jacobs, and you’ve got some good play-makers for Carr to target. Frankly it’s probably the best passing attack they’ve had in his time at the club.

4100.5 is OK on 365, I'd leave 4,250 on Skybet though… but the best line is

  • Derek Carr: over 4000.5 passing yards. – 10/11 (Redzone)

7 Days to the season starting now, and I can not wait! – I’ll be providing probably 3-5 tips on Sundays and hopefully something for Monday and Thursday night games throughout the season, they’ll range from the standard Moneyline, ATS, Totals all the way through to things like 1st half field goals (which is usually a good market to exploit) basically anything that I think will get us some money!
