Top Football Tips

IT was a good night on Tuesday with two many winners to mention them all – but the likes of Scott, Greg, HullShaker and Johnb were all on the money.

After a disappointing Monday I hit back with two winners out of two – a 7-5 Super Single on Callum Wilson to score and a 27-10 Top Treble on Bournemouth, West Ham and Crystal Palace.

Wednesday's card north and south of the border is a cracker – in England game of the night is Man United v Arsenal as Jose Mourinho faces another big examination of his credentials to stay in charge at Old Trafford.

I don't rate Man Utd's chances but there's no doubt they lift themselves for the biggest games and have a good record against the top-six sides.

Other games include Burnley v Liverpool, Wolves v Chelsea, Spurs v Southampton and Everton v Newcastle and all or most of these have separate previews on the site.

In Scotland there is a full card of six Premiership games with Rangers trying to stay top at home to Aberdeen while Betfred Cup winners Celtic make the short trip along the M74 to Motherwell.

We also see St Johnstone entertain Hearts and Hibs trying to end a winless run at home to St Mirren.

Elsewhere there are Italian, Spanish and Belgian Cup games as well as French league matches so loads to look at but I'm concentrating on what I know best.

For the Super Single I'm going with Arsenal draw no bet at Man United. Jose Mourinho's men continue to struggle and after drawing at Southampton tackle an Arsenal outfit on a 19-match unbeaten run but with a poor recent record at Old Trafford.

Arsenal could win this – and it probably depends on the mood of United who are capable of lifting themselves for big games – but I'm taking Arsenal draw no bet at over evens.

I'm going with two Top Trebles – one similar to last night with an identical price on the Premier League – and another on the Scottish Premiership games.

Not much to think about on England and I'm on a trio of favourites – Everton at home to Newcastle, Chelsea at Wolves and Spurs at home to Southampton. Saints have replaced Mark Hughes with ex-Leipzig boss Ralph Hasenhuttl and while he should be a success this game probably comes too early for him.

My Scottish treble is much bigger at 7-1 and is reasoned on the match previews I've posted.

I've also put up a 1pt moneyback acca and a goals treble – so good luck with whatever you choose to follow.

Well done with the two winners Mr F – Great night on the site all round

Full SPFL card tomorrow – i’ll be watching us play Hearts as we look to make it 7 clean sheets on the spin.

It’s Hearts city rivals Hibs I really fancy tomorrow – will post write up in the morning

Hibs have not become a poor team overnight – they are just a team low in confidence and this is the perfect opportunity for them to get a result against a poor St Mirren side

Hibs owe their manager and fans a result and I fully expect them to do that
    I’m Sure JohnB will agree

Hibs and over 1.5 match goals
    3/4 (Ladbrokes) (NAP)

    Hibs over 2.5 match goals
    9/5 (Ladbrokes)

    Rangers to beat Aberdeen
    Hibs to beat St Mirren

Hi Greg greattips on the French Ligue 2 last night. I always now do a goal in the 2nd half of each game as well landed again last night at 13-1. It’s always included on the sky bet specials.

    • GregBrowning 5 years ago

      Thanks mate

Yeah that a cracking shout – was only 7 goals at halftime yesterday. 17 goals in the second half. Might start doing that 👍🏼

  3. renwick 5 years ago

Good work Mr F, should be plenty of goals tomorrow in the United Arsenal game. We might have 8 defenders out..our defence is bad enough without any injuries!
All Arsenals away games this season have been btts and over 2.5. Should see over 2.5 goals and maybe over 3.5.

    • Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Fancy Arsenal or Arsenal draw no bet and will look at goals.

Well done all with the winners this week!

    Eredivisie – Thursday

    Feyenoord v VVV

This is a rearranged fixture because of a floodlight failure at the original fixture in November. Feyenoord won a spectacular game on Sunday against PSV, but I think it will be a dull game on Thursday like most games in de Kuip stadium this season. Feyenoord is simply the best of the rest in the Eredivisie and they won all their home games this season without many problems. I am not interested in the win or goal markets and will focus on the cards market again like I did in the last Feyenoord game. I can see a really one sided game with a lot of possession for Feyenoord. I think VVV will defend and Feyenoord will slowly try to get forward. Like we saw in games against similar opposition Feyenoord players won’t be tackled a lot, in fact they have the lowest average of being fouled in home games this season. This leads to very few cards for their oppostition. There were only 3 cards in 5 games against similar opposition. Excelsior had 0 cards, NAC 1, Utrecht 0, Zwolle 0 and Groningen 2.

Feyenoord and VVV are on 17th and 15th place for amount of cards received in the Eredivisie. Feyenoord only received 8 yellow cards in 7 home games. 5 of these 8 yellow cards were given to defender Malacia. The 5th yellow was in the game on Sunday, so he will not play in this game. VVV got 20 yellow cards this season. 7 of these 20 cards were given to Janssen and Post. Both players are high in the list with most fouls this season and both are out for the game on Thursday.

All this makes under 3.5 cards a very good bet @ 1.90 available with unibet and 10bet

    • GregBrowning 5 years ago

Hope those Feyenoord fans are Being checked for footballs when they enter the ground Mr Orange 😂

    • mr. orange 5 years ago

Haha. I was at the game on Sunday, but I am quite sure a PSV player hoofed the ball in that end. The timing of given it back was a bit…

  5. Alves 5 years ago

Rangers Aberdeen should be prime for cards, av got both teams a red card at 20/1 in a daft 50p 4fold. Need 2-2 in the argie game live the now though but also got 6 corners & 30+ BP’s each team at 20/1

  6. barrygadgey 5 years ago

Anyone backing hibs do so with caution. We have no balance to the side what so ever. Not scoring goals and leaking goals for fun. Something not right at the minute. St.Mirren are poor and we should be beating them with ease but so are dundee and we blew a 2 goal lead against them.

  7. craigyboy 5 years ago

SkyBets crowd booster came in last night at 5/1 and the enhanced looks a great shout tonight.

Liverpool and Spurs are the staple picks and then you have to decide on a United win, Arsenal win or draw.

I’ll be on Arsenal to beat United. 2/1 they are to win but I’m happy to take the treble as there should be no excuses from the other two to bring in the 6/1.

As a Wolves fan I’ll be having a play on the 11/8 for Wolves to score and get 4+ corners in our game with Chelsea on SkyBet. Very rarely let you down for corners and it’ll be a question of can Wolves score. Well we’ve scored against City, United, Spurs and Arsenal and you could make a case that we’ve been more impressive against the better sides in the league despite only taking a point from 3 of those 4 games. It should be a good game. On recent form you’d have to say a Chelsea win looks the play but I’ve got a feeling we could get a result tonight.

    Rangers v Aberdeen –

    Over 45 booking points
    13/10 William Hill, 10Bet

Most won’t need any introduction or background to the history between the sides but there have been 34 yellows and 3 reds in the past 6 meetings

On top of that referee Steven McLean, in spite of being one of the less card happy officials in Scotland, has covered this fixture twice before and showed 9+ cards on each occasion

Sky have 50+ priced up at 8/13 which I think is more in line with what you’d expect to see so this is a great price IMO

FULL SPFL card tonight and whilst I’ll be at the St Johnstone v Hearts match, its the games at Easter road and Ibrox I’ll be focusing on

Hibernian v St Mirren (KO 7.45pm)

Neil Lennon’s Hibs side are this season’s big under achievers so far. Their budget far exceeds clubs like St Johnstone, Kilmarnock and Livingston but they find themselves languishing in 8th place, well off the pace and a real slump of form.

They are 6 games without a win which is unacceptable really but they have the perfect opportunity to get back to winning ways as they host a poor St Mirren side.

You don’t become a bad team overnight – Hibs are a far better team than St Mirren and have some really talented players in Mallen and Kamberi. Hibs fans are unhappy with Lennon’s team selection but regardless of who he field’s tonight I’m expecting them to win and win well.

Easter Road not so long ago was a fortress and although they have been poor, St Mirren have just been put to the sword by Hamilton at home. They will be out depth tonight and I think their victory over Hearts has just masked the fact they are a team that is going to struggle this season

Putting my eggs all in one basket tonight, I watch this league ever week and it would be a real shock if Hibs don’t to get their season back on track.

    Recommended Bet

•Hibs to win and over 1.5 match goals
    •3/4 (Ladbrokes) (NAP)
    •Hibs over 2.5 match goals
    •9/5 (Ladbrokes)

    Rangers v Aberdeen (KO 7.45pm)

No love lost between these too and I don’t have to say too much on this game

Ibrox has been a fortress this season, 10 wins 4 draws and 0 defeats is impressive. Tey have been ruthless Domestically at home and should see off an Aberdeen side who will make life difficult but really lack a cutting edge going forward.

Rangers are now top of the league and boy are their fans enjoying it.

Aberdeen’s Record at Ibrox is dismal and with Rangers now top, they will want to ensure they remain top

    Recommended Bet

    •Hibs / Rangers double
    •5/4 (Black Type)

  17. 1terrytips 5 years ago

Does anyone do the score & wins?

They are difficult I know but if you can get a few results they can pay super returns. I like to pick 5 selections at 4/1 or more and do trebles, fourfold and a fivefold. It’s 16 bets that I usually do for small stakes but if you stick to the 4/1 or above you get just under 7/1 your stake for the treble and 4 correct pays around 50/1.. not had the five yet (had 4 three times) but it’s a mega return. Hopefully it’s up in time for xmas. In Dundee, st Johnstone, Kilmarnock , arsenal and Motherwell draw as I think Celtic might have a hangover! Best of luck

Good stuff mr fixit I’ll have a look in future. I’ll start to post my tips on here too.. feel free to use them 😁 👍 Good luck!

    • williegee 5 years ago

Hi 1Terrytips, sorry for being silly, but what do you mean by the score & win? Is that the correct score & win or a team to score & win? Another question, which bookies do you use for these bets, thanks in anticipation.

    • Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Both teams to score and pick a winner for example – Wolves 1 Man City 2.

    • 1terrytips 5 years ago

      Hi Willy,

I tend to use unibet as I find their odds up there with the best. I mean both teams to score and a team to win. You need to choose which team to win and the other team needs to score also. For example 2-1 3-1 3-2 etc 👍

    • old al 5 years ago

I do singles and a treble on the Eerste league but not so strict with the prices – usually get two out of three which gives a profit but rarely three but nice when it happens. (not consistent enough to post)

    • alex_mufc83 5 years ago

really difficult to land a 3 or more on these, it’s a large return for low stakes though but always classed as a ‘fun’ bet… i.e. expect it to lose but if it lands, lovely jubbley

    Man Utd v Arsenal
Having already napped Arsenal at 2/1 i have decided to take Arsenal on the asian handicap also. From a personal point of view i just can’t see how United are going to deal with Arsenals pressing of the ball.It has been said that the Arsenal managers style is akin to Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp and i couldn’t agree more and thats why they are doing so well. Now if you look at running stats Arsenal are right up there with Man City and Liverpool, then if you look at Man Utds running stats and they are the worst in the Premier League, for me that tells you that the Man Utd players are not playing for Jose Mourihno and you cannot just up your tempo for one game. These kind of stats dont lie and with that in mind i think Arsenal will win by a few here. The Arsenal press is almost certain to make Man Utd make mistakes at the back and if you have watched United of late they have been making basic mistakes without encouragement. For me Arsenal to win -1.5 asian handicap also at 4.400
    Good luck folks!

Best thing about Mourinho is his press conferences.
Yesterday’s was another cracker – love or hate him he’ll be missed if he leaves.

    • maccathered 5 years ago

His press conference’s are funny,he cannot name his team today right up until kick off as he doesn’t know who’s fit,not very good in such a big game. All the money he has spent yet he still moans.

    • theplug 5 years ago

macca get a life will ya man
you cant be sleeping at night thinking about united all the time, just because united spent big money it dont make you a better team,or a better player.any time united want to buy a player their held to ransom, not like other teams, eg i new when united bought pogba back he wasn’t worth that kind of money.same can be said about lukaku ,mourhino bought bad.so to me its not about the moneyhe spent its the players he brought in.plus dont forget he is at the biggest club in( England) always pressure not like at liverpool. you can go on about all the money he spent but dont forget when fergie was incharge of the scholes, gigg, nevilles.butt, beckham, united were only buying in one or two players when the liverpools were buying in 6 or 7 players a season .UNITED TO WIN tonight 11/8 and 12/1 Burnley to win i might even do the double

    • maccathered 5 years ago

What the hell are you on about now, your points no valid. As for taking United to win good luck with that man,the way Arsenal are playing right now they deserve to be where they are in the league, and to be frank so do Man Utd.Again nothing personal just business. As for being the biggest club in the world or the biggest in England thats b/s,but hey your just a delusional Man Utd fan.

    • harleec7 5 years ago

Just to highlight your point Theplug, if you remove net spend and focus just on expenditure.

Mourinho has actually spent less than City, Liverpool & Chelsea since he took charge. I find the net spend argument moot nobody cares on how well you’ve sold players unless you’re a selling club.

I don’t see things getting any better and I’m hoping for an Arsenal win just so Mourinho has one foot out the door, hopefully two feet and his head will follow just in time for Christmas.

    • askuttabove 5 years ago

“Win by a few” utter madness. City last year played us off the park for large spells and only one by one goal. The year before that in Zlatan’s first experience of a derby, they raced into a two goal lead, we got a goal back and there was no more goals.

You also highlight similarities with Arsenal to Pools pressing style – yeh we beat them last year as well at old trafford when again it was considered an impossible task

You can’t look purely at stats to validate your opinion – you’ve got to judge every game on its individual merits. Yeh fair play they were impressive versus a lethargic Spurs outfit, had their number and yes under Emery they seem to be heading in the right direction

But you mention Utd’s calamitous back line – well what about Arsenal’s! Sokrates, Holding and Mustafi as a back three!! Jesus!! couldn’t organize a picnic never mind facing off against the likes of even a half in form Martial, Rashford and Lukaku

To all of a sudden foresee Arsenal after 14 games, and this is 14 games, whereby for the majority of them they have just about got over the line, rode their luck and defensively looked at sixes and sevens virtually every time a team breaks into their half – go to old trafford and win with ease because of all our supposed troubles – is naive and ridiculous in equal measure

    • maccathered 5 years ago

Haha another one,Arsenal can outscore their opponents no problem and they know this with the quality they have upfront.Yes defensivly they are Vulnerable but so are Man Utd when attacking and thats why they dont do much of it,you also state a lethargic Spurs side, they didn’t look lethargic to me they just looked like what spurs usually look like when facing big opposition away from home,Arsenal had a trip away in Europe before that game so lethargy doesn’t come into it.From what i have seen of Man Utd in their last few games especially against Southampton.Old Trafford holds no fear for opposition now and teams are going there and getting something,i’m on Arsenal to win at 2/1 and Arsenal to win -1.5 asian handicap. You also cannot argue with running stats mate,Man Utd have the worse stat in the league this isn’t a lie it’s a fact.Arsenal are up there with the current top two and no wonder given their pressing.I expect them to wear Man Utd down quite easily.

  23. jimpartial 5 years ago

The Burnley game is the kind of banana skin Liverpool used to slip on but the home side are struggling.
They will be difficult to break down in the last third if they park the bus, though Liverpool can and will grind out a result I think.
Afraid Everton are my tip to win tonight even though Newcastle are playing a lot better now. Hurts to say it but thought there were great performances from some in their team on Sunday and if Gomes gets hold of the game they can do it comfortably. He looked class, and they have four successive wins at Goodison too. Head ruling heart on this one.

    Wolves v Chelsea

Well my trip to Cardiff was painful to say the least. We have been poor for a few games and hosting Chelsea tonight doesn’t feel like it will get any better.

We were talking to non other than Jamie Carragher in the services on the way home and all felt the same….

    Have we been found out?

Yes we have, the way to beat us is to overrun our midfield. Last season we partnered neves with more of a presence, an enforcer type in Saiss or Ndiaye but this season we have Moutinho who is an obvious upgrade but both he and neves will get bullied in the middle of the park. This keeps us playing very deeply and when we do break (our most impressive thing last season) we have too much to do and our wing play is gone.

We need to make changes but I fear we won’t. To be fair I think we need to quickly limp to the January window and reinforce massively.

I could see Chelsea thrashing us tonight to be honest. But the one thing I’ll say is that we always play our best stuff against the top teams. That’s how we’ve done so far.

As craigyboy says, we could get something tonight and wolves not to lose does tempt me.

I’m giving his wolves to score and 4+ corners at 11/8 a shot though. Fancy it coming in to be fair.

Not overly looking forward to going tonight.

doesn’t feel right backing against my own team, but yeah fully expecting Arsenal to capitalise on their best chance at Old Trafford since 2002. the dressing room is lost at OT and the team is rife with injuries.

I’ll be watching the game accompanied by a bottle of Jameson’s lol

Feels wrong going against my fav tipster greg but i think st mirren are good vallue they are my nap tonight to beat a woefull hibs side. I see Lennon being sacked in the morning.

    • Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Lennon won’t be sacked if they lose. However, if Hibs do lose I don’t know where they go from here.
Expect them to get the win they need.

    • GregBrowning 5 years ago

Sand King, you’ll get a decent piece for St Mirren tonight mate.

I’ve seen plenty of both teams this season and as rubbish as Hibs have been I really think they will get a win tonight

If they lose, Neil Lennon will 100% not be sacked.

Hibs have been woeful mate but St Mirren are a poorer side.

Cheers greg and mr f i think i will give my nap a miss if you both think hibs will win. I will follow your nap greg and find another one myself for a double. Best of luck with your bets tonight lads.

Strasbourg v PSG BTTS & Overs Evens – half stake
Can’t resist this given the last 3 games between these sides 5-2,2-4,2-1 … Strasbourg always with a brace. PSG showed vunerability last time out on the road at Bordeaux conceding twice. Strasbourg have a similar home record to Bordeaux and have only failed to net once at home this season … fancy them to score and PSG who have scored 2+ in all away games and average 3 on the road to again score at least a couple.

JohnB do you think st mirren could beat your lot tonight?

    • maccathered 5 years ago

      Bad bad question lol

    • Johnb 5 years ago

@sand-king anything is possible but when we do get a win we will be back on track, I think too much is being made of this run of results when you look at the away fixtures we have had

But no I don’t fancy St Mirren tonight

    • Johnb 5 years ago

@mrfixitstips I thought Melilla played well enough in the first leg, I know it was 4-0 but they acquitted themselves well, they went into that game in decent form but since then they have improved all over the pitch and won 5 from 5 conceding just the once, Madrid will be a changed side but a Chance has to be taken on Melilla at the odds especially for them to score against a side that struggle at home in this competition and a side that in general have been poor this season, the new manager is getting results but they are not convincing in their play, I like Melilla to score two here but the odds do suggest it’s unlikely but then I very rarely go for the obvious “if the obvious was profitable then there wouldn’t be any bookies”

    • mr h 5 years ago

Changed days for Hibs…..cupla months ago you were telling us yous were the best footballing side in Scotland and Ryan Porteous was the best centre half in the country 😂.

    • Johnb 5 years ago

mr h that’s the problem and why we have bookies “people don’t look at why things happen”

      It’s simple
No team has had the amount and length of injuries Hibs have had to deal with, then recently the whole squad was hit with a virus and in a season where a lot of teams have improved we are still in a good position and Porteous is the best but he is also still young

Oh and I also said Ayr would win the league 😂

    • Mr Fixit 5 years ago

Cheers, just wondered what your reasoning was. Any team can score in a match so no problem with that.
I will although be amazed if Real lose.

    Hello everyone!
It’s my first time posting tips.
After some research here and there , here’s a treble at around 2/1 .
Tottenham , Rangers , Lyon should have an easy task winning .

Liverpool also should win but it can also be a thriller .
Chelsea i dont know , Wolves are strange team . Newcastle also can bring a surprise against Everton .
Man. United at home have good results against Arsenal in recent history but everyone suggests Arsenal after the 4-2 win against Tottenham . Tough to call this one as both teams are capable of any result , both to score here look like free candy.
PSG should win today, i dont think they make 2 consecutive bad results . There are plenty Cup games at Spain that are not paying much . Dont know if is worth squeezing these for some profit . Also Benfica look like an easy home win . Goals could be an option for these games. If i had to pick one team for many goals today it is Sevilla .
    Good luck

‘both to score here look like free candy’ – that’s what I’m going to say to the bookie when he’s counting out my winnings.

  54. evens knievens 5 years ago

Small 4 fold acca with Hills (boosted to 43.76/1)

United v Arsenal 2.5 and overs
    Spurs win
Wolves v Chelsea each team over 1 corner each 1/2
Everton v Newcastle each team over 1 corner each 1/2

Reasoning. Arsenal’s away stats stand out and when United concede and Jose’s game plan goes out the window they tend to play well. Expect a cagey United in the 1st half though.

Spurs will be desperate to get back to winning ways and take advantage if Arsenal slip.

Newcastle and Everton both have good corner stats.

Won on Wolves corners earlier in the season in one of the tougher matches. They do seem to know how to set up against the better teams and I quite fancy them to get a 1:1 draw tonight.

Anyway good luck to you all.

Bet a fiver get free fiver if you lose with Betfair, gone for this double at Man Utd & Spurs that pays £270. Southampton got new manager in, but not officially til tomorrow, so hoping that will will give them a wee boost and make a game of it

  56. wax 5 years ago

    Man Utd v Arsenal
I really don’t think this is going to be the walk in the park for Arsenal that some people think. They’re in great form at the moment and as bad as United are playing at the moment this will be Arsenal’s toughest away game since the Chelsea game at the start of the season. Like I said United are playing really poorly at the moment but I think they’ll have too much for Arsenal tonight.
    United to win 7/5
    United over 1.5 tgls 5/6
    Over2.5 and btts 5/6
Small stake on United to win 2-1 @ 9/1.
