A STRANGE thing happened on the way to Rome – as Scotland won a game on Sunday.
Beating San Marino 2-0 – for the fourth time in a row out there incidentally – was about what I expected but it was another poor show that puts manager Alex McLeish under increasing pressure.
The scoreline keeps alive selectabet's chances of landing an 823-1 correct-score treble and was what I suggested in my preview.
Only value bet I liked was Scotland to win to nil and it was on my treble with Poland -1 and Holland not to lose – and of course that went down in the final minute after the Dutch launched a super second-half fightback. In hindsight I should have gone overs but the Germans played much better than was expected.
Well done to all the winners – wasn't following much as I had a busy night at the Daily Record. Last one for two weeks so it's not all bad – just need the weather to pick up for planned games of golf.

Callum Paterson also and ironic he got injured on a grass park. How him and Johnny Russell started before James Forrest is a mystery, Forrest has scored more goals in the past 2 seasons than those 2 combined. I’d have started Dobbie or Shankland before Patterson simply because they’re actually centre forwards, Paterson is a jack of all trades but master of none and that’s no the type of player that you stick in it at no9. Mcleish is a dinosaur and has lost the fans and the dressing room can’t be great. It won’t get better till a new man with new ideas comes in. Offer Alex Neil the job and go in a different direction from the old boys brigade

Whoever comes in will have the same problem regarding strikers and as Strachan said yesterday that’s not McLeish’s fault.
For now we need to have a fit Fletcher and Griffiths and hope someone like Hornby comes through now he’s fit again.

I’ve said McLeish should go. I get what you say about Fraser and Paterson but it seems their clubs said they couldn’t play on the plastic.
And being a bit harsh about Robertson who wanted to play and was willing to travel to Kazahkstan on his own but after his op the medics advised against him going.

Portugal vs Serbia – Portugal -3 corner handicap 11/10 Paddypower **NAP**
Portugal’s dominant but ultimately goalless display against Ukraine yielded 18 corners for them. They played some great stuff but at times were perhaps guilty of overplaying it. Serbia, if anything, are defensively better than Ukraine and will put up similar resistance which should lead to corners.
Within the past 12 months Serbia would have lost corner match bets away to Montenegro and Austria if both had the -3 corner handicap applied to them. With respect to Montenegro they are not in the same league attacking-wise as Portugal so if they managed the feat surely Portugal will especially after racking up 18 corners at home a couple of days ago.

Their terms terms do state about no liability for errors but they also state the below (6.2)
6.2 Incorrect Price – Prior to the start of an event, In-Play or after the event, where an Obvious Error is identified any bets will stand and be settled at the bet365 revised price. Where a revised price is deemed less than 1/1000 then bets will be void.
This suggests to me they should have paid out at corrected odds??
But im not a lawyer so maybe im misreading the small print.
The incorrect price was caused by an incorrect fixture which is probably why it’s been voided.

I queried it with Bet 365 and they stated rule 6.6 which allows them to void when fixture or players are misquoted. But they also offered me a payout as bet credits rather than cash if i accept i now understand their terms should something similar occur in future.

Tomorrow Dunfermline host Dundee Utd. Both teams have plenty to play for and are in good form. Dundee Utd must win to keep tabs on Ross County in the title race; if they lose this they are 5 points adrift and County with 2 games in hand, and the league all but over. At the same time, Dunfermline have dropped out of the play offs and know that ICT – 2 points above them – are playing Alloa at home and are strong favourites to win. Dunfermline have won their last 5 games without conceding and will be keen to avoid a gap opening up to 4th place and a play-off spot. I also feel Dundee Utd will score – they have to go for it and have scored in their last 9 matches. It could still turn out a nervy 1-0 either way, but I think the value is too good to turn down at 6/5 for BTTS.
Many of the same comments apply to the ICT v Alloa game. ICT should win and will surely score at home. Plenty of incentive as they try to firm up 4th place and the play-off spot…however, Alloa are more than capable of netting as well, particularly on the road (1-2-0-2-2 in their last five aways, the blank against Ross Co) and I fancy them to score. They are in a relegation battle and a win here would put them level with Partick with the same games played. Again, both teams should be attacking here.
