Top Football Tips

RANGERS cost me a fair quid on Sunday but I wasn't the only one – although if I'd known Steven Gerrard's line-up I'd have  Celtic.

Gerrard played it a bit safe and Celtic took control from the start before running out comfortable 2-0 winners.

I only need a Gers goal to land my both to score treble but my other goals treble won at 27-10 thanks to a late Eintracht Frankfurt clincher.

Shock home defeats for Rennes and Atalanta after leading downed the fivefold after both led so I finished the day with a fractional loss.

Well done to all the winners including Scott with his members bet and anyone who tipped a Celtic success.

Bookies reacted by making Celtic 1-2 for 10 in a row but for me still plenty of work to be done to make it nine. And it looks as if the result has persuaded Rangers to part with £7m to sign Ryan Kent from Liverpool after his superb loan spell last season.

Monday's a quiet one as we start the international break. There are a couple of National League games in England as well as lower-league games in France, Germany and Italy and a few matches in Ireland.

On Tuesday there's a full National League card as well as EFL Trophy matches and for me that's a nightmare scenario. However, we have people on the site such as HullShaker who knows the non-league game so there should be plenty of tips on the site.

Could have been a no-bet for me but Stuttgart look a good shout to beat Bochum at home in Bundesliga. Relegated Stuttgart have made an unbeaten start and won both home matches. Bochum are winless in their four and have reacted by sacking manager Robin Dutt.

Looking at the two League of Ireland games and Sligo v Dundalk stands out. Dundalk lead the way with two games in hand and should beat mid-table Sligo who have won one league game in five. Just 1-3 is on offer so consider Dundalk and over 1.5 match goals – Dundalk's last five have totalled 21 with Sligo's last five seeing 22 but on the h2hs just one out if six has gone over 2.5 goals.

A Stuttgart/Dundalk & over 1.5 double pays 7-5 but I'm making it a treble with Ade's Glentoran. He's put up a good write-up on the Northern Ireland side at home to Institute and also fancies Stuttgart.

Glens have five points from four games while their visitors sit second bottom after a single draw. Home side are big favourites at 1-2 and on the h2h have won 14 out of 15 at home to their rivals.

Remember to check out WeLoveBetting for their latest tips and video bets.

    GLENTORAN VS. INSTITUTE
    Northern Irish Premier League
    2 September 2019
    19:45

Glentoran will be looking to keep up their home form from last season and I believe they are good value to do so.

The Glens have not lost at the Oval since February and in that run they beat today’s opponents by a 2-0 score.

Institute FC find themselves 1 point off the bottom with no wins this season, chalking up just 1 draw in 4 matches played. Institute have failed to win away from home in the league since early March being only able to muster 3 goals in that period.

I think the Glens are good value for another win this evening.

    STUTTGART VS. BOCHUM
    German 2. Bundesliga
    2 September 2019
    19:30

Stuttgart were relegated from the Bundesliga last season and have their eyes set on automatic promotion if they can continue their unbeaten run.

Die Roten have won both their home matches this season, 1 against fellow relegated Hannover 96, and they have 2 away draws in the 4 matches played this season, and they know if they win this one as well they will move up to 2nd in the table. They still have quality players like Holger Badstuber and German legend Mario Gomez. They also signed Moroccan Hamadi AL Ghaddioui who was a stand out player for Jan Regensburg in the 2. Bundesliga last season.

Vfl Bochum have a near opposite match form this season in the league. They have lost both their away matches to recently relegated Hannover and Jan Regensburg, while drawing both their home matches. They find themselves only 1 spot and indeed point of the bottom of the table.

I think Stuttgart should win this one with ease . they have better quality players, have more to play for at this point in the season and their home record is quite solid as compared to Bochum’s away record.

Good Call, and nice reasoning. I’m on these as well. Paddy Power has a 2/1 treble special for these two and Dundalk to win away at Sligo. The Town have won their last 5 in a row and will be looking to gain all 3 points here to keep ahead of Shams at the top of the league and take back to back league titles. They do have 2 games in hand over second place, but it’s a 2 horse race over here and I fancy Dundalk to win the league. Good Luck!

    Morning lads
My double chance Nap lost yesterday as Wolves were pretty poor at Everton,i didn’t think Spurs would lose and that proved to be the case, how Harry Kane wasn’t booked for diving i will never know as i thought that were a mandatory yellow card i tipped Danny Rose to be booked and said it was a gimme at 7/4 and he duly obliged and that pulled me round for the weekend, all longshots lost
    Well done all winners

    • paddy gooner 5 years ago

Thanks for the Danny Rose tip … being an Arsenal fan I try not to tip on these games but am happy to take other’s tips. Yeah, what you said about Kane … I couldn’t believe the diving fool when he said with a straight face in interview he thought it should have been a pen LOL then said in other games it might have been awarded – I’m not a huge fan of VAR but it’s the only way to stop idiots like this.

    • Mr Fixit 5 years ago

I reckon Kane got away with a booking because there was contact even if he invited it.
He clearly played for a pen but I’ve seen worse dives so that probably saved him from a card.
And as he says a lot of refs would have been fooled and given it.

  6. tommyt124 5 years ago

Morning everybody looking for some advice please. I’m looking at trying to get my football betting more sensible each weekend I’m just betting on everything and anything I want try be more controlled instead of here there and everywhere. I know a lot of you have a points system and betting banks ect and I just wondered how you work it and keep it sensible so for instance do you pick your bets and just place them and stick to that through week or do you have certain amounts each day ect if any body could give me a decent plan I could try I would really appreciate it thank you

    • shortee 5 years ago

Work out your daily or weekly betting budget. Narrow down your selections.
      More research
      Certain leagues only
Try cut down inplays (biggest killer for most)

I have a betting bank of say x amount and I split it accordingly (stakes are example)

      i do 20 nap *100%*
      nb 10 *50%*
      side 5 *25%*
      acca 2.5 *12.5%*

I try to only have 1 nap a day always 1/1 or just there abouts or slightly higher
Not a fan of accas on a Saturday one with acca insurance. I also make sure that if my nap wins it’s winning and covering my outlay so I won’t do a £20 amount nap say at 1:1 but spunk £50 on other bets like accas or BTS etc.

      Also 7 days a week
      1 nap a day

If hit 4 out of 7 naps a week you are up your initial nap stake each time weekly. If that’s say £25 nap then your making £25 profit a week basically. Been doing it for years and years and has worked for me. I also have staking plan copies and pictures of my tables but you would need to go through admin to get them etc

      Patience
      Research
Less betting random stuff don’t know about
      Cut down accas

Follow men like hull, Leroy, Alex, mr f, Greg etc. A lot of us are happy to get a 1/1 or 6/4 a day. Consistent money over longshots and steady income is better when betting and less teams means less risk. I’ll take a 5/6 winner anyway over A 3/1

As the saying goes. Why put £100 on 2 teams at evens when £200 on 1 does the same

Just my tuppence worth but hope it helps you on some way shape or form and if you need anything let me know 👍

    • Mr Fixit 5 years ago

It’s pretty good advice. Patience and discipline are key for anyone doing it seriously.
However, loads of people for fun and for them it’s key to keep stakes low, especially if odds are high, and decide at the start of each week what you can afford to lose. Remember every bet you place has to be regarded as a loser – because the money’s gone unless it then wins.

    • maccathered 5 years ago

Just back over 3.5 goals in Liverpool games and Man City games every week you will end well in profit.

    • GRM 5 years ago

Mr f your advice here help a Bro…

    • old al 5 years ago

Sound advice from Shortee. I use MrF’s no more than 10% of the bank per day which works well for me, then if you have a bad run it’s not terminal. Have been doing my betting this way for years cutting the year into thirds and take a draw ( usually between 40-80 points at Christmas and end of season and loose between 20-40 points during the Summer – you’d think I’d learn by now!) starting anew each third. The patience, rearch, don’t fire from the hip ( discipline ), less accas bit is spot on. Gently-gently catch a monkey.

    • Mr Fixit 5 years ago

The 10 per cent rule means you need 10 disastrous days in a row but that’s not going to happen unless you’re reckless.

  15. waltonmark 5 years ago

Following on from the comments giving advice. The more “experienced” on here, did you start by lumping a bulk of cash into a betting account? Build up from a tenner say? Interested to know. Thanks

    • Mr Fixit 5 years ago

If you want to do it seriously try to build up a betting bank, for example £1k. Then risk to lose no more than 10 per cent a day doing singles, doubles and even trebles. That way the worst-case scenario you do in the grand slowly but if you are clever about it you should never bust your betting bank.

    • shortee 5 years ago

Yes. I started with a set amount. A lump some.
Won’t and don’t need to say what it is but £1000 is a fair amount to anyone and make sure you split it accordingly and never spending more than 10% a day and ten bad days needed as mr f said. Be pretty bad at gambling if you had 10 bad days in a row to wipe you out

  16. waltonmark 5 years ago

Everyone has different ways off approaching their betting
Personally I’m quite conservative with mine I’m not a drinker or smoker so put £20 into my betting account each week obviously you can put more or less in depending on your circumstances.
I follow the main tipsters on here after doing my own research I will place my bets

I dont follow a points system but always bet to win 5% of my bank
ie if my bank is at £200 I bet to win £10 that way I am not putting too much money on long shots which have a lesser chance of winning

It works for me and just food for thought for yourself in your quest to beat the bookies

Bit of a long post made up of my thoughts and I put some of this on Twitter over the weekend. I’ll post again tomorrow when I’ve decided for definite

National league seeing far more goals than last season when 4 or 5 1-0 scorelines a week was fairly common, this week all 12 games went over 1.5 for the first time

    39 goals
    All 12 games  o1.5 goals
    10/12 btts
    10/12 o2.5 goals

I noticed when looking at each team that the earlier weeks of the season seemed to have less matches over the 1.5 and 2.5 goal lines. However, the last three sets of fixtures have seen 10/12 followed by 11/12 then finally all 12/12 fixtures hitting the over 1.5 goals mark.

As a quick aside here It’s perhaps worth noting that the national league has a punishing early schedule and that clubs will have played 9 games in 30 days by next Tuesday’s fixtures I’m not sure if this plays a part in the fixtures seemingly seeing more goals or not

    A few extra quick observations.

Chesterfield and Ebbsfleet are in the bottom 4 but have seen both teams scoring in 7 out of 8 games.

Chesterfield (my team 😔) are once again draw kings with 5 draws featuring btts (2 x 1-1 , 3 x 2-2) but are without a win

Wrexham have added extra firepower this season but seen to have lost the defensive quality that saw them win so many games 1-0 and 2-0 last year with the Welsh side seeing 7/8 of their games going btts.

There are plenty of teams with 6/8 games going btts and if you know the teams to avoid this season looks like it will be a significantly better league for goals betting than last season.

I’ll add a few details for each team

    Best bets

Probably going to stick close to home with Chesterfield. Halifax are a tempting 5/2 to win despite us being 3rd bottom and them being 2nd. We’ve been fairly poor so far this season, attacking wise we aren’t bad but defensively we have been a shambles, btts has come up in 7/8 games so in a lot of ways I’d be more inclined to back halifax o1.5 than the wdw market (we’ve conceded o1.5 in 6/8 games)

We have had 3 2-2 draws this season and in total 5/8 games have been draws for Chesterfield hence there may be a slight bit of caution about backing Halifax.

Other thing to perhaps bear in mind is that in terms of away form halifax have played teams in 23rd (won) , 21st (won), 19th (drew) and 16th (lost). Ultimately you can only beat what’s in front of you but there’s perhaps a sense that they haven’t played any one decent away yet. Not that’s likely to change by Tuesday! As we aren’t a good side at the moment

Halifax double chance and over 0.5 goals 20/21, btts at 4/5 (Halifax have done btts last 4) will probably be what I look at possibly as my main bets. Halifax double chance plus o1.5 match goals is 13/10 (a bet that’s won every game this season) and Halifax double chance and btts is 13/5 (7/8 game) are all tempting prices. Will try and find out if there’s any Halifax team news etc before Tuesday

    Probable Best bets
    Btts 4/5
Halifax double chance and over 0.5 mg 20/21

    Other games worth considering
    Dover v Ebsfleet BTTS 4/5
    Notts C v Solihull BTTS 4/6

Wrexham v Maidenhead was also a consideration as Wrexhams record is good and although Maidenhead haven’t had as many BTTS they have scored in all their away games

For that write up alone I’m going to back your Halifax over 1.5tgs, superb and good luck 🤜🏻

      Scampi mate.

Some write up there and great info. I’ll be looking at it myself. Love your chesterfield thoughts and I’ve done them a few times BTS and over 2.5 and done me proud. I love stats and love following trends and your info above will be a great help. Top man.

      Cheers folks

It’s a fairly painful experience being a chesterfield supporter, but, we’ve had some very strong trends in recent years. Whether it was back us to lose every week under Gary Caldwell or Martin Allen’s 1-1 draws which I think ended up 9 in 13 games plus 2 0-0s.

Oddly I think the best opposition side I’ve seen this year was actually Barrow who tore us to shreds but we drew 2-2

Now you can back Partick Thistle to lose every week under Caldwell.

shortee, you haven’t napped 10 from 13 just looked back and you are 6 mibee 7 at best, (which is decent tbf) cant really be bothered looking into it in full but you are not stating stats 100% accurately, in addition you are hijacking a good honest forum that many have contributed to over many years now.
