Time for an international break as qualifying for Euro 2024 gets under way later this week.
That gives us the chance to catch our breath and have a look at some of the potential outright winners as we approach the business end of the season. (All odds from Bet365).
Premier League
Arsenal opened up an eight-point gap on Manchester City yesterday in what the bookies see as a two-horse race.
At 8/11 the Gunners are as short as they’ve been all season. The big questions is whether they'll be able to hold off the more experienced City squad when it comes to the crunch?
All eyes will be on Wednesday April 26th when the two sides meet at the Etihad.
- Arsenal 8/13
- Man City 11/8
- Man Utd 150/1
Championship
Burnley’s 6-0 humbling at the Etihad on Saturday will be timely reminder that despite a 13-point lead at the top of the Championship there will be much work to be done upon their inevitable return to the top flight.
Behind them, in the other automatic promotion place, are FA Cup semi-finalists Sheffield United who are now just three points clear of the chasing pack, although they have a game in hand on most of them.
Michael Carrick’s Middlesbrough look most likely to overhaul the Blades, if not then they’ll need to take their chances in the play-offs.
The latest betting on who’ll get promoted is as follows (William Hill);
- Burnley 1/100
- Sheffield United 1/5
- Middlesbrough 10/11
- Luton 3/1
- Millwall 11/2
- West Brom 6/1
- Norwich City 7/1
- Blackburn 10/1
FA Cup
The weekend's semi-finals went as expected with all four favourites booking their place in the semi-finals.
The draw has kept the two Manchester clubs apart and Sheffield United's reward for becoming the first Championship side to reach the semi-finals since Reading in 2015 is a Wembley date with Manchester City.
- Man City 4/7
- Man Utd 5/2
- Brighton 11/2
- Sheffield Utd 33/1
Scottish Premiership
Celtic’s nine point lead is as good as 10 thanks to their goal difference which is 28 goals better than Rangers.
Both sides are in incredible winning form and the only teams that look like beating either of them are each other. Rangers will need to win the remaining two meetings between the sides and hope that Celtic can slip up twice elsewhere.
That looks too tall an order and is why the Hoops are 1/33 to make it 11 Premiership titles in 12 years.
- Celtic 1/33
- Rangers 14/1
Scottish Cup
Much like the Premiership, the Scottish Cup looks destined for Glasgow. Celtic and Rangers meet at Hampden in next month's semi-final and the winner will be overwhelming favourites against either Inverness Caledonian Thistle of the Championship or League One's Falkirk.
- Celtic 8/11
- Rangers 11/8
- Inverness 14/1
- Falkirk 16/1
Champions League
Six of the eight remaining teams are previous winners of the competition but its two of the clubs that have never lifted the trophy that head the betting.
For Man City it could be the final leg of an incredible Treble but they’ve landed on the tough half of the draw which has paired them with Bayern Munich. Navigate that and they’ll face the winner of Real Madrid and Chelsea.
We highlighted Napoli as outsiders at 7/1 last week and the draw couldn’t have been kinder to them. Fellow Italians AC Milan are up next for the Serie A leaders, then potentially the winners of Benfica v Inter.
- Man City 9/4
- Napoli 7/2
- Bayern Munich 7/2
- Real Madrid 7/1
- Benfica 14/1
- Inter 14/1
- Chelsea 14/1
- AC Milan 25/1
Europa League
There's a few huge clubs still in with the chance of European glory in the Europa League.
Favourites Manchester United have been drawn against Sevilla who, despite struggling in La Liga, cannot be written off in this competition. The Spaniards have won it six times this century and four of the last nine editions of the competition.
If United can get past the Andalusians they could set up a repeat of their famous Champions League semi-final of 1999 against Juventus who play Sporting in the quarter-finals.
Jose Mourinho has enjoyed plenty of European success in his career and his Roma side look favourites to progress on the other side of the draw. A showdown with his former club, Man United, would be quite the finale.
- Man Utd 11/8
- Juventus 11/2
- Roma 11/2
- Bayer Leverkusen 8/1
- Sevilla 9/1
- Sporting Lisbon 10/1
- Feyenoord 12/1
- Union Saint Gilloise 20/1
Europa Conference
Another English team lead the market in the Europa Conference League. West Ham have reserved some of their best performances for Europe this season and a second major European honour looks achievable.
They’ll play Belgians, Gent in the quarter-final but the biggest danger could be AZ Alkmaar whom they could meet in the semi-finals. The Dutchmen lie third in Eredivisie and beat Lazio home and away in the previous round.
Nice are also in good form domestically and look most likely to progress from the other side of the draw.
- West Ham 5/2
- Fiorentina 7/2
- Nice 7/2
- AZ Alkmaar 9/2
- Gent 12/1
- Anderlecht 14/1
- Lech Poznan 16/1
- Basel 20/1
If you fancy a clean sweep of English winners in Europe the Treble of Man City, Man Utd & West Ham pays 26/1.

Thursday Tips
Italy v England
Bet-builder
Under 4 goals in the match
Italy double chance at 4/5 b365 (NAP)
Draw at 11/5
Correct score 1-1 at 5/1
It’s fair to say Italy are a bogey team for England in their last 16 meetings going way back to 1976 England have won just twice, Italy have recorded 9 wins. It’s also worth noting that out of the last 16 meetings not once has there been over 3 goals. Italy will be desperate to qualify for the Euro’s so a tight game is expected and with 4 out of the last 5 meetings being draws i’m also siding with that option. There’s to much Quality on the pitch for it to be 0-0 so i’m also on the correct score of 1-1.
Best of luck

Hi folks… scraping the barrel for games today, but the Mirandes vrs Eibar (8pm) Laliga2 cacthes my eye.
The last time these two have met over the last 6 home & away have all been draws, with four of them being score draws.
I love an old ongoing stat , so going for a draw here @ 9/5 & with a smaller punt @ 4/1 for a 1-1 correct score.
(Not a tip by any means, just my take on it folks)
Gd luck whatever your on today 💙🤞💰
