Welcome back to MFT’s 10-1,000 betting challenge, where we aim for a 100x return on the original investment via a small stake betting strategy, prioritising low risk and low odds en route to a long-term target.
While this column is dedicated to high-probability tips, there is no guarantee of profit. If playing along, you should consider your own budget and confidence in the tip provided, and make your own decision whether to follow, cash out or continue at every stage. 18+, please gamble responsibly.
We will use a unit system for our stakes, allowing readers to set their own unit value that suits their own budget. For the sake of simplicity, for us, 1 unit = £1.
We will continue to transparently track our progress as far as we go on the path to 1,000, but will refresh our main tracking stake back to the starting point every time we surpass 100 units – a 10x ROI.
For the sake of consistency, all tips are placed using odds from bet365. It worth pointing out that with Bet365 we can paid out if our selection goes into a lead by two or more goals.
Bet 1 was a winner and we now turn to a relegation battle as the Leicester City must get three points to move out of the bottom three.
Bet 2 – Sheffield Wednesday vs Leicester City – Easter Monday 6th April at 3pm
Sheffield Wednesday vs Leicester City points towards the visitors avoiding defeat based on the gap in quality, recent resilience and motivation.
Sheffield Wednesday are already relegated and their numbers reflect a side with little resistance. Across the last 20 games they are W0-D3-L17, conceding 42 goals and collecting just three points. Their underlying data is weak, with 0.51 xG and 1.89 xGA across the last eight, alongside just 4.4 shots in the box for and 10.4 against. They have created only two big chances and conceded 11, showing minimal attacking threat.
At home the issues remain. Across the last four they post 0.48 xG and 1.84 xGA, with just 3.8 shots in the box created and 9.8 conceded. They have won only 15.0% of home xG battles, one of the lowest rates in the league.
Leicester’s record under Gary Rowett is W1-D5-L2, but they are proving difficult to beat. Their last four away games have all ended level at Stoke, Middlesbrough, Ipswich and Watford, which shows they can compete with stronger sides. Across the last eight they average 0.80 xG and 1.61 xGA, creating four big chances and conceding 13.
The motivation edge is clear. Sheffield Wednesday are down, while Leicester remain in the bottom three but a win here would likely lift them out of the relegation zone.
Leicester have shown they can stay competitive away from home, while Wednesday lack attacking output and defensive stability. Leicester City to avoid defeat stands out as a strong angle.
