Last Player Standing is a betting competition where a group of people each put in a stake and predict one team to win in a competition each week.
If that team wins, they progress into the next round, if they draw or lose, they are eliminated.
Each team can only be picked once throughout the game; eg, if you pick Liverpool to win in week one, you cannot pick them again during that edition of Last Player Standing.
The goal is to be the final player left at the end of it all. The winner takes the full pot.
This weekend, leaders Arsenal face a tricky test at home to away-day specialists Everton, Manchester City travel to the London Stadium to take on relegation-threatened West Ham United and Liverpool welcome struggling Tottenham Hotspur to Anfield.
This week’s best Last Player Standing tip: Liverpool
Liverpool will look to boost their hopes of Champions League qualification as they welcome crisis-club Tottenham Hotspur to Anfield on Super Sunday.
Liverpool have lost just one of their previous 16 Premier League encounters with Tottenham (W12-D3-L1), winning each of their last four.
Spurs also have a notoriously bad record at Anfield, winning on just one of their last 31 Premier League visits (W1-D9-L21) to that side of Merseyside, and it’s hard to see that run changing on Sunday.
In the Premier League, Igor Tudor’s men are in the midst of an 11-game winless run (W0-D4-L7) – losing each of their previous five – and the Reds should prove to be too strong for their struggling visitors.
MFT’s top Last Player Standing pick: Bournemouth
Bournemouth will look to continue their push towards European qualification on Saturday as they travel to Turf Moor to take on relegation-threatened Burnley.
Bournemouth suffered their third consecutive draw in the Premier League last time out, as they were held to a goalless draw at home to fellow high-flyers Brentford.
Nevertheless, Andoni Iraola’s visitors are now unbeaten in each of their previous nine Premier League encounters (W4-D5-L0), winning two of their previous three on their travels.
Burnley, on the other hand, followed up their agonising 3-4 defeat at home to Brentford by losing 2-0 in Merseyside against eighth-placed Everton.
Scott Parker’s men have now won just one of their previous 20 Premier League encounters (W1-D6-L13) and none of their last 10 at home, and I’m expecting the Clarets to fall to another defeat on Saturday.
