I struggled to find anything of interest yesterday but it wasn't a total write-off. Opting for an Irish Novice when the likes of Flooring Porter was in the race at an each-way price was an oversight, luckily Liseo placed having stared at the winner, whilst the NR was selected based on form with the eventual 14/1 winner having been 9/2.
I would have liked to have had more time this evening but without much digging, I think the four I've landed on can at least match yesterday.
Attacanter Racing Tips
Covert Legend 9/2 four places – 19.00 Southwell
Covert Legend is a horse who crossed my path when putting up Fools Rush In, he won shortly after placing for us with this horse in behind. Pinball Wizard in 3rd won next time out a few days ago.
The horse is almost exclusively seen on the AW but is visiting Southwell for the first time. Dropping from a Class 5 into a 6 isn't a massive advantage but can only help. I am happy to overlook the inconsistency of the horse and the dreaded bounce factor given the trainer has opted to use Brandon Wilkie who can be a valuable 5lbs, that puts 4 below last time and can go close once more.
Natasiya 8/1 – 16.45 Perth
Lucinda Russell had a field day here last year and I just so happened to tip a horse in a race the last time the selection was seen. I was watching the race and recall noticing Natasiya before she faded finishing a distant 5th.
She had a very consistent year last season and could be ready to kick on, her trainer is extremely well respected despite only operating at 12% here, 44 of her 119 runners here either won or placed which is a pleasing 37%.
Onemorenomore 7/1 – 17.23 Pontefract
Onemorenomore was a selection recently when trying to go back to back in a race at Doncaster's St. Leger meeting. He stayed on in that race to finish in the places for us and could benefit from the sterner test Pontefract has to offer.
He potentially would have wanted more give in the ground but I am happy to chance he will remain competitive given his C&D 2nd at this time last year. He's 6lbs lower today but today's rivals are of a decent standard.
The horse has been tried at 7f so the fact he's carrying over a stone less than 3 of the 4 ahead of him in the market could help given the uphill run-in albeit three places does make it skinny. The trainer is in some sort of form having two winners and 4 place from 12 runners, he has a pleasing summer for a small yard and should have kept this one bubbling.
Pressure's On 9/1 four places – 17.05 Newmarket
This selection didn't jump off the page, but I am willing to give it a chance despite plenty of noteworthy combinations contesting this trappy affair. With 14 runners we'll require some luck but will need progression chancing the mile for just a secone time, Rossa Ryan remains on board.
Terries Royale was checked over last month, he then caught the eye under Megan Nicholls, the horse breezed clear and somehow managed to run all over the track allowing Fahey/Bell to win the race for a third time, he has seen a fair bit of support off of that.
Ed Dunlop's 3yo hasn't pulled up any trees, winning just once in his relatively young career. It was his first try over a mile last time when 5th of 14 at Newbury, before that he was tried here at Newmarket, finishing 2nd before an acceptable enough 8th of 19 both over 7f. We take our chance here without assessing rivals.
*Advised Bet – Eachway L15*
WHAT IS A LUCKY 15 BET?
A Lucky 15 bet consists of 15 unique bets, covering every possible combination that comes from backing four selections. The 15 bets are broken down like this:
– 1 fourfold accumulator
– 4 trebles, with each treble omitting one of your selections
– 6 doubles, again covering every possible combination
– 4 singles
The attraction of a Lucky 15 is that it offers many more ways to win than a standard accumulator. A Lucky 15 uses both your acca and your singles as well as producing trebles and doubles that reward you for correctly calling 2/4 or 3/4 of your selections. To cover the 15 separate bets, a Lucky 15 uses your stake 15 times. If you were to place £1 on a Lucky 15, you would be staking £15 in total across the various bets.
