Strong Run won when being backed into very short odds, but Groovy Blue was very poor earlier in the day.

I didn't like how Ben Jones had his horse at least ten lengths off the pace, but it probably wasn't that bad.

The winner came from even further back and picked up the pieces. It turns out that Groovy Blue wasn't on a going day, or just wasn't as good as I thought he was going to be.

Strong Run made hard work of her win. She was a short price when tipped up, but was backed into an even shorter price.

At times, I thought she wasn't going to win. However, she managed to dig deep to win and hold off a big outsider in second place.

Illegal d'Ainay 5/2 (1pt) – Plumpton 1.00

Despite not jumping well and running very flat on chasing debut, I am happy enough to give a chance to Illegal d'Ainay.

Considering Illegal d'Ainay wasn't a winner over hurdles and was never strongly supported in the market in those races, it was interesting that he was fancied on his chasing debut.

When money like that comes on a horse, it has to be noted, and a lot of the time they do land.

It's interesting that they've taken fifty days off since that disappointing effort. From that, I read that they have been drilling him over fences to ensure he is much better and more comfortable with his jumping.

There are some okay handicappers for this level in this race, but it's definitely a race he can win.

San Pedro 11/4 (1pt) – Plumpton 2.00

In this race, we have the recent winner Avada Kedavra, who was the first winner for David Bridgwater in over a year. He won well that day, but I don't think that was the strongest of races, and he took advantage of that.

San Pedro stood out to me in this poor-looking race, as he is a course and distance winner, and he is dangerous off a handicap mark of 99.

He managed to win at this track off a mark of 99 in February in a better quality race. He hasn't been in good form since that race, but returning to this track and on soft enough ground, it could be enough to see him return to form for a yard in decent nick.
